Sunshine equals spray paint

Happy Wednesday yall!  Here in Dallas lately we've been getting ALOT of rain. We totally need it but it's been very dreary. The dogs have wet muddy feet and our house smells like Fritos. Lol.
We finally got a break this past weekend and the sun came out.  I've had a few projects waiting to be painted but can't do it if it's raining outside.
I have lots of mismatched patio furniture and I was excited to start having some match for once.  I had a Pepto-bismol pink wicker chair and a big faded wooden rattan bowl chair that needed a facelift.  I chose a metallic paint that is more on the silver side but also has a tiny  hint of gold.
I love the outcome and now I still have a green vintage metal chair to paint and I need to cover the seat that goes to the pink chair. Those are next.  I've been debating about the green chair because I love the rusty natural patina that comes with age but I want to make it look good so painted it will be!

I'm still crazy busy with work and training for 6 hrs straight but I really do love it. This is the part of my job that I live for and is my favorite.  Training my coworkers is the best!  Just tiring and I'm losing my voice. lol.
Have a great day everyone.  And thanks so much for your support and kind words for my mom.  One day at a time is all we can pray for to her health. I will post about it soon.

Life is hard and busy

Hey y'all, I cant believe it but I haven't blogged in 3 weeks.  I have too much going on. I am traveling for work which keeps me extremely busy.  My mom's health has really taken a huge downward spiral and was in hospital for a while. My brain is spinning and while I need to get it all out I cant.  I do hope to blog again soon but no guarantees.
I will say that I was able to meet one of my favorite bloggers last week though when I traveled to North Carolina. Deb drove over 2 hours to spend the day in Raleigh and join me for dinner. I loved meeting her and we had a great time ( minus the bad shrimp).  She posted about it and here is the link:  Just Keepin it Real.

I miss blogging - I really do.  I want to come back this week or next week.  I need things to slow down personally in my life.

Have a great week!!

My cold rainy day project

This weekend in Dallas was just cold and ugly. We got a lot (4inches) of real fluffy snow in Friday and it snowed steady for hours.  With combination of snow and sleet from last week , it was wet outside and best to stay in.
I have an old vintage Singer sewing machine that I've had for almost 10 years.  It belonged to my second cousin Nita and I'm not sure who's it was before her.  Nita passed away with cancer and before she died she had a garage sale to raise money for her bills. I bought the sewing machine and a cedar chest from her and gave the chest to another cousin.  The sewing machine was in really bad shape and it was in her outdoor she's for a while. Then when I got it, I had to put it in storage for a few years myself. There are huge water stains and some of the wood is lifting and chipped.  My plan is to actually put my portable sewing machine on top of this one and use it more like a table\ desk.
I painted it with a plaster paint ( much like chalkboard paint) called Poppie. It's a shade of orange and I really like it. Not to mention I love the name Poppie ( my grandfather was called Poppy).
I painted 3 coats and sanded it to still have the wood show through and look vintage.  Then I added 2 coats of poly sealer.  I'm very happy that it has a new life and it brightens up my craft room .

Here are some doggy snow pics and even a scary selfie of me with no makeup.  I didn't even mention that last week I was supposed to travel to Ohio for work but my flights were canceled due to sleet. It worked out good for me that I didn't travel because I got super sick with the flu and upper respiratory infection.  I had to go to a urgent Doc in the box places because my doctor didn't open his office due to weather.  I'm on the mend and feeling tons of better this week! Still have a lingering cough but so does everyone else that I know.
