I'm a bona fide junker

So over the years I've posted about attending several various flea markets and junk shows. My dream was to be a vendor at shows and not just a buyer.
I met some amazing Junkers through blogging a few years ago.  I followed their blog then one day I got the courage to email one of them and ask for some blogging advice because I really liked their style.  It was the first year I started blogging (4 years ago).  With that, it started a friendship because they were also local in Dallas.  I attended some junk shows that they were a part of which was so awesome because of my huge love for that stuff.
I planned on starting my own junk business 2 years ago but with my dad in the hospital and planning a wedding, those plans took a backseat. Of course it didn't stop me from building an inventory in our garage though.  This past summer, I went to a garage sale that was bench held by the same person who hosts a junk show twice a year in DFW.  While I was there, my sweet friend happened to be there too with her husband and it was such a great surprise.  While we were there, she introduced me to the hostess and recommended me for their winter show.
Fast forward a few weeks after that, I got approved to be in the show and then the race began.  I had to file for tax permit for state of Texas.  That's when it got "real" for me.  My hand shook as I filled out the application. I have to be grown up and file taxes quarterly now for the business.
I've been painting and sanding every night after work and on weekends.  It's in 2 weeks and I think I'm ready.  I know there's so much that i don't know and I'm so nervous.  Todd is just happy to get rid of the huge ginormous pile of furniture and knick knacks out of the garage. Lol.
Between getting ready for the show, and this weekends Holliween party, I've been swamped. I don't mind though. I like always staying busy.
So I created my FB page yesterday so if you happen to be on there, go like my page Junque Dancer. I will start to post pics of items in selling tonight when i get home. I was busy last night and didn't take any pictures.

I can't wait to tell you all about the show!! I went as a shopper last year to this show and I can't wait to be a vendor now.

Have a great weekend! I most likely won't post tomorrow because I have the day off to wrap up things for the party.

My awesome treasures

Good morning!!  Last Saturday I was out running some errands with my cousin J because her car has been broken down and is in repair.  She asked me if I would drive her downtown to a place she needed to go.  I didn't have any plans and I knew I could stop at some garage sales on the way to her place.  I stopped at a few garage sales but didn't see anything of interest. Then my last one I stopped at a few blocks away from J's, I scored!! I bought a beautiful glass cake stand and the glass dome lid for 5$! I really only needed the lid and they've been going for 20$ or more.
After we were done with downtown and we were making our way back, we stopped at 3 estate sales. I felt like goldilocks. The first one was asking full retail prices and with no discounts. Usually on Saturdays there is always a discount. The second one didn't have anything left- it was all picked over. The last one I scored again!!  I spotted 4 vintage dolls baby doll size and 3 little vintage dolls that were size of my hand.
The lady gave a great deal plus 25% off of those prices. I want the dolls for my Holliween party. There was a man a few people ahead of me in the checkout line and he saw me buying all the dolls.  She only charged me 1$ each on the little bitty dolls.  He grabbed one and said that it was worth 25$ and that it was made in the  U.S.  The lady seemed upset then that she quoted me a dollar but she stood with the price. After I paid her for everything, I was waiting for J to pay for her things. That man came up to me and offered me 25$ for all my dolls including the life size ones.  I said " no thanks I'm buying them because I need them and have been looking for them".  Dang nosy man!!   I also bought a gorgeous embroidered table cloth. The tag came off when I got home but I kept it. It's in a different language and it looks Greek or Russian maybe. It's really big and meant for a long formal table.  It was too pretty  to pass up. Not sure what I'll do with it.
The legs came off one doll before I made it home. I had no part in that!
The dolls are kinda creepy don't you think?
Oh and I bought this deer head wine bottle holder. I'm obsessed with deer heads lately.

Lastly, I stopped at one more garage sale before I got home. I picked up a stool for 3$ and an old vintage doctors scale (that still works) for 5$!!!!  I was so happy with all the deals I got that day! Nothing very big this time and all of it fit in 2 bags.
It was a fun couple of hours and all that was before noon.
Have you voted on my BOTB? If not, it's the post before this one.
Have a great day!

My Junkin finds....

Good morning, I'm at the airport about to  board plane heading into Dayton, Ohio. I'm working at our office located at our Loveland location and it's my first time to be there.  I've mentioned my company is merging with another company on several occasions. This office belongs to the "other side".  Let's just hope I stay upright today and I don't fall down like the last week when I traveled. Hahaha!
Saturday I was on my way to a thrift store that (benefits battered women)  to donate bags of clothes when I realized this one neighborhood was bulk trash day.  Yall I have no qualms about dumpster diving and porch picking! I scored a heavy white wicker chest of drawers. FREE!!! It was super fun loading it in my truck by myself.  All it needs is some TLC, new knobs and fresh paint.  Last year I found a white wicker headboard so now I will be selling them as a set.
I was surrounded by garage sales and my thrift store didn't open for another hour so what's a girl to do!!  Shop.
I can't believe the great things I found.
I found a glider rocking chair stripped down of course by the curb.  Easy to fix for sure!  I bought a solid wood desk that is too cute for - 10$!!!! It's not plywood yall it is the real deal.  I bought a globe, a drafting desk (10$), and a ladder bench, and a chandelier(5$) and a head board.
Have you seen benches being made from headboards? So cute! I bought a twin size headboard and footboard a few weeks ago for 10$.  I found a gorgeous wooden board by the curb. It was just too pretty to leave behind.
I bought a Victorian love seat last weekend at Canton but didn't post picture.
I also bought a brand new floor rug to replace our other one that my dog practiced potty training on.  I hated throwing that rug away but the stains didn't come out.  The rug is huge and it was also 10$.  Score!

I love this old picnic basket I bought. It was made in Iowa.
A plant stand for 2$
The drafting desk I'll be painting
Headboard I bought and piece of wood I found
How cute are these silver salt and pepper shakers?
So funny story about the lamp- it was in the curb and I only wanted the lampshade for the shade frame. This guy opens the door and yells "the lamp works"!  I thought he was mad for grabbing his trash but actually he came out and said " I know you may think it doesn't work because it's in trash pile but it does work. I just set it out this morning".  So I had to take the ugly lamp because I didn't want to hurt his feelings.  Then the lamp shade ended up being in terrible condition and it crumbled in my backseat.  I may clean this baby up and see her shine!
Fred Sanford ain't got nothing on me!!
No room inside the truck either!

Have a great day yall! My blogging may be slow this week depending on work load.

My junkin' weekend

Last weekend I went to a junk show in Keller, TX hosted by Mistress of Junk.  I grabbed my brother-n-laws girlfriend Paula on the way there because they live a few minutes from where it was.  I was really excited about going because 2 of my most favorite junkers in the world were going to be there.  I've mentioned both of these ladies before on my blog because I do try to support them as best as I can , even if its just word of mouth.  Robelyn's business is Redneck Chic and Debbie's is Talking Trash.  They are both so crazy talented and can make the biggest heap of junk look like it came out of a magazine.
The bad thing about this post is that I didn't take many pictures.  People are kinda funny anyway about taking pictures of their booths. Unfortunately, people go home and try to duplicate their work and then sell it as their own.   I bought a lot of stuff and Paula bought a few things so it was a success. It wasn't very big so it didn't take too long to go through all of it.  I bought a vintage metal reindeer to go in my front yard and an awesome wood Christmas tree. I will be stringing lights on them tomorrow.  There was a taco food truck and it was so yummy. Paula and I both shared some nachos with Carnitas and dang it was delicious.
I borrowed these pics from Mistress of Junk facebook page. A few of them are from Redneck Chic and Deb's booths.

After we left the Mistress of Junk show,  we stopped at a few thrift stores and some antique stores.
We did really good at the thrift stores. Lots of stuff for just a few dollars.  Funny thing is that I bought a small antique Santa mug for 4 dollars. I already have a large one and so I wanted the little one to go with it.  I was happy of my purchase (and still am) but then I went to the thrift store and they had 2 of them and sold to me for .25 cents each.  SCORE!!!

Here are some pics of my Christmas decorations so far in my home using SOME of my great finds. I forgot to take pictures of everything in my great haul that day.  I bought some vintage bottle brush Christmas trees , a fake poinsettia arrangement in a cute red bucket, and few ornaments that aren't shown.

In the third square picture, My lovely friend made those JOY pillows. Arent they the cutest ever?!! I love them so much. Jax also photobombed my pic which makes it doubly cute.   Notice my 3 little Santa mugs?  The metal wine sign I bought last spring in Warrenton. I bought the reindeer doll from Hobby Lobby and the vintage plastic Merry Christmas piece came from a thrift store. The chalkboard stand was only 4 dollars at the thrift store.  One of my favorites is the Deer basket that also resembles the Loch Ness monster. We have named it the Christmas MonsDeer.   Those boxes of old vintage ornaments came from Woolco. Remember those?  I got them for 1.50 total.  I also bought 2 antlers at the junk show for 4$ a piece. I am going to be dipping the tips in paint and glitter for my table centerpiece.  The wood tree and deer are my favorites. I have 2 smaller deers that I bought off Craigslist and added them to the spot.
It was also the first time I spent all day with my future sister n law since she moved to Texas. We had such a great day and very similar tastes in the junk. She's a keeper!
Gotta go now- Have a great Thursday yall.

We were drawn from the weeds...

Good morning y'all! Happy Monday to you on this dark rainy gloomy day here in Dallas.  We soooo need the rain though. How was your weekend?  I unpacked A LOT and starting to see a light at end of the tunnel finally. I have one guest room that is pretty scary but it's not priority. I can close the door if anyone comes over.

I drove out to Quitman on Saturday where Nanny (grandma )  lives and it's 2 hrs one way.  We had such a great day! I left early and got there around 10:30 am. We went to a  a little hole in the wall and had a delicious country breakfast before we went to the grocery store. Nanny does not have a car  or a drivers license so one of us normally takes her so she can be stocked up.
After we put away the groceries, we headed towards Lindale so I could go back to the Pink Pistol that's owned by Miranda Lambert.  I knew something was off when we got closer and no cars were there. Unfortunately, they had sign on door that they closed at 1pm just for that day.  I bet money that it was due to high school graduations.  I was bummed because I really really wanted to buy a skirt that I can't get out of my mind.
On our way back to Nannys we stopped at a little flea market and I bought a cute little rolling cart and 2 mannequin heads that came from a beauty school. I will be using them for my Halloween party. LOL
The highways were gorgeous out in East Texas.

Sunday, I came home from church determined to get our master bedroom complete. Todd went to his office to paint  his lobby so I buckled down and got to work.  Jax is so funny because he loves to be held. He was so needy and would jump up on my legs so I can pick him up. He's actually pretty heavy when you're holding him with one arm and unpacking, sorting and cleaning with the other arm.
I need to get one of those baby holders that I can put him in and carry him around.

I came across one of my projects I bought recently, and changed it around.
I had bought a summer dress that would not have fit me in the bust but would make a great skirt. I cut the whole top portion off and Wallah! I have a cute skirt.
These are really not good pictures but notice the shoulder straps and the top bodice are missing from the photo on right.
It's been a blah day but Ive been busy at work. Hence the late time of day I'm posting.
Here are some cute pics of Jax that brighten my day.
He's using his toy as a pillow. Heehee

I want to post more then once this week so let's see......
Have a great rest of your day.
