Busy times...

Tis the season to have sooo many things going on.  So my junk show last weekend ended up being much better than I anticipated and I am very happy about it. I just didn’t have time to prepare like I normally do and be completely ready. I had a huge project that I thought would be my “money maker” for the show and I didn’t even get to touch it. Now I have to wait until next year to do because I already bought the supplies and its Christmas related.  Oh well!! Maybe I’ll do them next month and have them done so not to worry about it later.  Todd always helps me take down and load up my trailer after the show.  He even commented on fast and easy it was to tear down and lot less to load so he was happy with my show as well.  My in-laws drove out to see me at the show which always warms my heart because it’s almost an hour aaway from them and they got lost this time due to some detours.  My friend Wendy also came who has never missed one of my shows.  I love my support system!!

This was one side of my booth

After the show, we had to rush to go to our friends Christmas pajama party.  I, of course, found some Grinch pajamas for Todd and I because that’s one of my fave themes. For anyone new to my blog, I have a whole collection of Grinch stuff for a Grinch display every year in my home for Christmas.  I really love The Grinch and have since I was a kid.

The party was a great time AND I won a gift card for best Pj’s costume.  Truth is , there was a tie between me and one of the neighbors dressed as a deer and we had to play rock, paper, scissors ( we cheated and kept doing the same thing) and then had to guess a number between one and twenty and I won.  LOL

Now that the show is over ,I can focus on decorating my house but to be honest, I am throwing in the towel. We have our tree up and decorated and its beautiful. I usually deck the halls, the mantle, the front room, and anywhere else and I have so many fun awesome Christmas decorations but I’m losing my steam.  I think just being so behind this year I’m starting to get anxiety and I just cant do it. I don’t have it in me. I just mentioned this today to Todd, I think I want to put all the tubs back in the attic and just stick with whats already out.  It will still look a little festive and that just needs to be enough. I did manage to replace my doll heads with ornaments and small bottle brush trees in my gumball machine though. I am glad I was able to get that done before I lost my steam.  I have 2 inflatables I need to get up in my yard and put some lights around our front door this week and that’s it.  How about you? Have you ever just called it quits because something was looming over you and the fun went out the window?

I’m taking this Friday off to go hang out with a friend at McKinney square which will help get me back in the spirit again. I try to go every year and see all the fun decorations and stuff. I’m looking forward to that and then just relaxing this weekend.  We shall see ….  We don’t sit still well. haha

  1. Hi, Holli-berry!

I'm excited to know your junk show went better than expected. I agree it is a great idea to get ahead of the game and work on time consuming projects well in advance before crunch time comes. Follow your own advice and work on that special money maker project whenever you have a window of opportunity. By the time next year's show rolls around you'll have it completed.

You guys looked cute in your pajamas, and I am delighted to learn you won a prize at the party for your Pj costume.

Mrs. Shady and have been decorating modestly in recent years. A few strategically placed items indoors and outdoors can create a festive mood. When the holidays are over you will be thankful that you don't need to spend so many hours dismantling displays and putting things away. I like the effect you created by filling the gumball machine with ornaments and bottle brush trees.

I swear you have the biggest, brightest and best smile in Texas, Holli, and it always makes me happy to see it.

Thanks for the update, dear friend. Enjoy the rest of your week and don't ever feel guilty about slowing down the pace and getting some much needed rest. Take good care of yourself and I hope to connect with you again soon!

    1. Shady, you made my day!! Thank you for your sweet compliments.
I actually have nothing planned this weekend and we are going to wrap things up as in put out some small final touches and I think I may sit on the couch and watch movies or read. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. haha! Have a great weekend!

  2. Every year I decorate less and less and less for Christmas. Now I'm down to two small bottle brush trees and a wooden reindeer statue. Takes me like 5 whole minutes to decorate, LOL!

    1. My hubs would love that because it would take up a lot less room in the attic!! I am starting to lean in that direction for sure....

  3. I feel you on the decorating, I'm going in very slow mo. Now that the Renaissance is over I have the weekends to get things back in order quicker, and find time to craft. Glad your show was profitable. Many seasons blessings to you, or should we say Happy Holly Days!

    1. I'm glad now that I can also start crafting at my own pace and enjoy. I just don't want to feel rushed and behind like I've been feeling.
Enjoy your time and fun crafts! yes- Happy Hollidays indeed! :)

  4. I understand just what you mean on decorating- amazingly, this has been one year I haven't had those feelings. David Jeremiah at this point would say, "If the joy of Christmas is waning, reflect upon the baby which it is all about."

    1. Yes- I love that saying Chris. I am going to do what I can this weekend and if it doesn't get done- it waits until next year!

  5. That smiles, woman! It's just glorious. I love it.

Decorating, well... we never go all out, but not because of anything in particular. This year, I want a minimalist Yule tree, something straight out of the woods, but... since we'll see what chemo allows.

    1. I can see myself parting with more of my decorations as the years go by and becoming more sparse.
I like the idea of a Yule tree right out of the woods- sounds beautiful! I pray you feel up to the task of getting that done sweet friend. xoxo

  6. Glad you show went well. Nice to have family and friends visit. That party sounds like fun and I love your PJ's. How awesome that you won. I haven't even found my steam yet and I'm pretty sure I won't be decorating like I normally do. Something is just off this year. I absolutely love the bubble gum machine. I need to do that with mine!

    1. I know you normally go ALL out with your trees and hundreds of decorations. I am definitely losing my steam and I didn't decorate this year like I normally do. I have another gum machine that I need to decorate. Its a blue one. I just came across it my garage- I could swear I sold it but I guess I didn't. LOL- yay me!!

  7. Congrats on your show! So happy for you! You look so cute in your pj's! LOL! My mom has really started to cut down on decorating! She puts up some of her little houses and hangs some decorations in the kitchen and that is it. No tree anymore. This is the first year, that I put up some lights, in the room where I create. Big Hugs!

    1. I actually still have the 2 small orange and black Christmas trees up that I use for Halloween and asked my husband if it would be Ok to skip this year for the big tree. I was surprised when he said he really wanted the big tree and so he got it out of storage and put it up himself. Once it was up and decorated, I was glad we did. Its pretty and we do enjoy it. Have a great week!! Hugs to you :)
