Wednesday thoughts

I received the sweetest package today from my work team.  Its a light box with Nanny's name and date on it. It was sent to the office and I started crying immediately when I read the box. I have some thoughtful people on my team!
I've still been on a roll of going through stuff at my home to toss or donate. Last week in our mailbox, there was a flyer that was from a charity north of us and asked for donations to be left on our porch and to schedule a pickup. Man , was that perfect timing for them! I had already packed 2 bags of stuff that I was going to drop off . On Saturday, I spent 4 hours straightening up a side of the garage that needed organized and I ended up filling 3 more bags up. The charity picked up yesterday.  I still have much more to do including another closet.
We had some severe thunder and rain storms this week and my dogs hate the thunder. They bark back at it which is both funny and annoying. We got woke up this am by some loud thunder claps at 3am so I have very puffy dark circles under my eyes.  I am so tired and seeing an early bedtime tonight!  Todd flew home today from his work meetings so that is always nice too to have him home.
Lastly, the picture of coffin was from Nanny's funeral. I don't know what prompted me to take it but as I watched each of my cousins who were pallbearers take off their flower and add to the coffin, I snapped a quick photo.  Saturday, as I was organizing the garage section, I came across Nanny's small travel carry case. It had her address label stuck on the side and I burst into tears and cried for a few minutes. I had to pull myself together quick because I had created this HUGE mess around me in the garage and I was doing it alone and didn't have time to allow myself to wallow in grief.  I still feel that a time will come and the flood gates will open up and there will be no quick 3 minute cry.
I hope yall have had a good week. I'm honestly ready for Friday!

lack of sleep and allergies have caused my eyes to be dark and puffy. I also have no clue how to use eyeshadow!

  1. I still burst into tears unexpectedly. Be easy on yourself. Wish I was motivated to start clearing the clutter. But I am just not!

  2. Hi, Holli!

That was a very kind gesture on the part of your work team, dear friend! That light box with Nanny's name and date will surely tug at your heart strings, but it will serve as a powerful remembrance of a great woman. It was indeed good timing that a charity reached out to you just as you were preparing to donate several bags of unwanted items. You rid yourself of clutter, freed up more living and storage space and helped those in need, a win-win for sure. That is also a powerful image of the coffin adorned with boutonniere. I have seen pictures of you, dear friend, and you look much more like the "before" eye shadow picture than the "after" picture. You also have a much prettier smile than Beetlejuice. :) I have no doubt there will be reminders of Nanny that cause you to burst into tears, and you might need a long cry or two or three. It is all part of the grieving process. Let the tears flow.

Try to enjoy the rest of your week, dear friend Holli. I'm thinking about you!

    1. Yeah, I know a good cry would be good for me. I just haven't had a good time for it to happen. I suspect it will be when i'm triggered again.
Oh I haven't shared any pics of me this week. I am not far from the picture on the right!! LOL For real.
I appreciate your thoughts- they mean lot to me.
      Have a great weekend, Shady

  3. I like the thought of the Pall bearer's action. Funerals, however, I'm on the outs with. I watched my pastor's mom literally dissolve as a person at her husband's funeral. I can't do that again, doesn't matter who you are. Much of my family prolly think I'm an ass, but so it goes.

Scrappy's never much been bothered by thunder, but there's been just a handful of times the wind has rattled him. Anymore, if you aren't a bladder urge, good luck waking him.

I held my tears at my mom's death until I saw her best friend wailing as she was carried out. The dam burst, and stayed closed until a couple of months after my dad's death (with a lot of help from Peach schnapps) some 8 years and change later.

    1. I was a wreck at my Dad's funeral. As you know from past years, it changed me. I now have depression and anxiety and had to go to counseling for a short time after he passed. This one is EQUALLY huge loss but yet I've bottled everything in. I'm still broken :(

  5. You have been busy. Seems like a lot of my blog friends have been busy clearing things out. I wish I had that motivation. The light box is lovely. That is very sweet about the flowers on your Nanny's casket. ((HUGS)) I have a question. All the funerals I have been to the casket is lowered into that casing that is already in the ground. Why was it above ground?

    1. They were WAY behind because of the weather. The cement casing was put in the ground after we left.
I am in a mood to change everything around in my house. I have lots of stuff but I also have clutter I need to get rid of. Slowly but surely....

    1. It does feel good to purge the crap!! When my dad died 3 years ago, I feel like I cried for a year. I know that I cried everyday for months. I am handling this one so differently and its weird. I do know the cry will come soon. Have a great weekend!

  7. Awww, isn't it nice to get a gift filled with love? I'm so sorry for your loss. My favorite person in the world was my great grandmother, who we called Nanny. I think I'm going to miss her intensely till the day I pass myself.

Purging is GREAT and I'm getting into it big time. Gonzo and I read her book when it first came out and had round one about 2 years ago. Lately, we're going through round two and it feels great. I'm pretty proud of some empty drawers around the house.

Hugs to you, my friend. <3

I have more purging to do but I have a junk show next month so this past weekend I switched gears and now i'm in preparation mode.
I will get back to purging in May. I also have a storage area to go through. ugh!!
