Hill Country ride 2018

Hey there, so its about to get crazy busy so I thought i'd post now to get one in this week. Last Friday, Todd and i hosted a ride to one of our fave places in Texas with some good friends and new friends.
Todd has made some friends in his work industry that are riders and he rode to Georgia back in July and went on long ride with them. Theres a big work convention that takes place every year and this year it happened to be in Dallas. It changes every year. So since the guys were going to be in town , they also rented bikes and extended their stay to go with us including a couple that live near us and our very good friends of ours.  So there were only 6 of us total - 4 bikes which is a nice small group that is manageable.
We went on the same ride last April with a much larger group and we had so much fun but its hard to organize large groups on bikes- with gas breaks, eating , etc to be on same schedule.
We ride all back roads and stopped at one of our regular stops when we're in that neck of the woods for some awesome BBQ!  We also happen to come across a very very long caravan of army trucks, Humvees, etc heading to the border. In fact, it was so big, they also went long way on back roads because it would be a huge media storm if they went main highway. Todd asked them on one stop if they were heading to the border and one soldier replied he wasn't at liberty to confirm but he didn't deny. Then sure enough, it ended up on the news later that night that Trump had released 1000's of troops to secure the borders.
We HAVE to include a stop to Luckenbach when we're in town . Its soooo fun and i love the vibe of being there. Live music, beer and wine, fun atmosphere.
I have tons and tons of pictures so this may have to be in a few separate posts.
I really enjoyed the ride and it was perfect weather! Id much rather wear a jacket any day then ride in the hot hot sun.
I flew into St Louis last night and i'll be here for the next 9 days to support the conversion here. ( remember i just did a conversion support back in August in Salt Lake).  This is the last one for the year and for the company until we tackle our sister side in Canada.

I'm MIA in STL

Hey y'all I miss you already! I am in St. Louis this week training new hire school from 8 to 5 solid.  I flew in this morning and literally began my day training. I didn't have time to post and I didn't get to read any of your posts.  I'm doing this post from my phone.  

I can't believe this happened to me tonight but I was with a friend after work  (Tina) and we went to a new restaurant that has opened recently since last year when I was here last. It's a BBQ place called Sugarfire that had patio seating.  I got out of the car which was parked in front row next to the entrance door and I saw the curb- somehow I missed and totally wiped out on my knee and then slid with arms straight out in front of me.  Thank goodness I was wearing a maxi dress! 

My back is killing me and I skinned my knee. I bounced up quickly and Tina and I laughed all night.  I know I'm going to hurt even more tomorrow. I'm not tall but  grown ups just shouldn't be falling down often. LOL! 

After dinner Tina and I hit up one of our favorite thrift stores so I did end my night on a better note. I stayed upright! 

I found the cutest nativity thingy that was only 3$. You can't have too many baby Jesus's you know! I also got a pair of denim shorts that had a hole in a very strange place once I tried them on at hotel.  There will be a patch in the future for those! I bought this sweet glass egg shaped holder with bird on it.  I really love it and hope it survives the flights back home in suitcase.

y'all I wanted to buy this cot so bad if I had a clue how to ship it to Dallas. It was only 25$ and would make such a cute daybed with tons of pillows.  I've been wanting one so bad and I wish I didn't see this one!  Oh well. 

This is the sun setting through my wind shield with rain drops. Let's just call this an artistic touch. Haha! 

I'm going to do my best to post tomorrow night too. I'm having dinner with a dear friend who just had his second kidney transplant last month.  I can't wait to see him!

Celebration of Life

Good morning y'all! Happy Monday. Hope you had a great weekend.  It was a crazy busy one for me. Friday night we went to our friends house for a backyard BBQ in Ft. Worth. It was all the gang that is going to Sturgis so we had fun planning and talking about the trip. They grilled hamburgers and turkey burgers. Everything was yummy. For dessert, Bobbie made cookie ice cream sandwiches.  Hello tasty goodness!

Saturday morning , Todd and I drove to a friends house to pick up some lawn equipment that we bought from them.  Like us, they recently got married and had 2 households to merge and doubles of many things. Yay for us because we got a nice mower and leaf blower and an edger.  When we got home and was unloading my truck, I felt something on my leg and when I looked down , my shoe was literally covered and crawling with ants. I screamed and pulled my sneaker off and threw it down the driveway.  I had stepped in a nasty ant bed that had crept up recently with the rain storms we had.  Todd was so sweet, he tried cleaning my shoe and then they got on his arms.  Yuck it was so awful! Both of us got away with just a few stings.  

I had a project to make for dads party that I already committed to and told my stepmom I would make. I had a HUGE poster board the size of a large rug. I covered it with pictures in chronological order from when Dad was in hospital , had the surgery to walking me down the aisle and his birthday in November.  I'm glad I made it because everyone seemed to enjoy it. My grandma cried as did I when I was cutting out the pictures and reliving those tense moments. 

Dads "rebirth@ party was so great! Deb really did a great job on planning it and thought of everything.  They had it catered from a good friend who does great BBQ. We had sausage, chicken and brisket with tons of sides. Buckets and coolers of drinks from beers to sodas and boxed wine which was quite tasty.  They hired this band that they had heard play several times at one of their favorite restaurants and so glad they did. It was 2 guys that looked like farmers right off a tractor but dang they could sing. The main vocal sounded just like Gordon Lightfoot and he played some of his songs. It was a great turnout and I would estimate that over a 100 people showed up. We had it down at dads mancave and had tables set up and even  porta-potties.   

So my cousin Larry surprised daddy with the large Club Schmitz sign and it was so  awesome to have it. If you look closely, someone put dads picture over the Dos Equis poster stand.  Everyone posed in front and had pictures.

It was so great seeing friends and family come together to show love and support and friendship to Dad.  I think he had a good time and felt pretty special! 

Yesterday , I drove to McGregor , TX that's just past Waco to support a friend of mine who is crazy talented. She is also a blogger at Redneck Chic.  She makes jewelry, shirts, purses, etc that has her fun flair and unique taste.  Robelyn sells on Etsy but she also has booths at 2 different antique stores around her area. She was having a special Pop-UP store sale and I thought it would be fun.  She made me the cutest Mr and Mrs pillowcases for my wedding gift and they match my bedroom decor. I need to take a picture for y'all.  I didn't take pictures of anything I bought come to think of it.  I purchased the cutest steering wheel cover this has blue pompom trim. I'm a sucker for pompom trim!  It was a nice antique store that went on forever. I also bought a footstool and an old vintage quilt that has 2 huge holes but I'm hoping   I can get patched.  The quilt was 20$ and so I couldn't pass it up.  

The traffic was horrible coming home but when I did, Todd had dinner ready and a glass of wine poured. Ahh! 

A lady in one of my Facebook online garage sales makes homemade tamales and she delivered 2 dozen last night.  We will be having those for dinner tonight and snacks this week.
