"Z"- Zodiac

Hey ya'll, i'm sure at least 1000 people probably picked Zodiac but hey, i'm running on fumes today. I almost groaned out loud when I decided to blog about Zodiac because it is pretty cliché but i don't have a lot of Z words in my vocabulary. In fact, last year i wrote about Zinfandel because i love wine so i couldn't repeat that at least back to back.
My zodiac sign is Taurus. Taurus the Bull.
Time period: April 19, 2016 – May 20, 2016 ( My birthday is the 17th so i am almost a Gemini)
It is the second astrological sign in the zodiac,  it follows Aries.
The traits: ( found on the internet)
Strengths: Reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible, stable
Weaknesses: Stubborn, possessive, uncompromising
Taurus likes: Gardening, cooking, music, romance, high quality clothes, working with hands
Taurus dislikes: Sudden changes, complications, insecurity of any kind, synthetic fabrics

I cracked up when i read the dislike of synthetic fabrics. It reminded me of a funny story of when i was a kid. I took dance and it was picture day. My mom bought me a new pair of tights just for the picture. She took them right our of the package at the dance studio and i cried because they were super itchy.  I threw a fit and my mom got so mad but then she said "FINE! Where your old tights that have a hole in them". So i did wear them, and i did have a hole in my tights on my leg in my pictures.  Oh well!! My tights were so soft and comfy.
Big surprise -a like is Music!!

Here is an awesome song by a great band I've seen in concert once and they're about to release a new album soon. yay!
Hats off to the Bull- Chevelle
This is live version off youtube. I couldn't find the original video through blogger youtube. weird!

I did it!!! You did it!!! We did it!!!!  I was in such a slump and didn't have the want, the energy, the words, the content to post. I didn't want to NOT blog and i missed it. I just couldn't it.  I was frozen in grief and couldn't move forward.  I thought i lost my mind to sign up for the this blogging challenge but it was just what i needed to jumpstart me. It was crazy and hard some days, but i did it.
There were days i was able to visit much more than the standard 5 new blogs.  Then there were days i couldn't even reply back to my commenters.   I did meet some new bloggers and that's always fun. I didn't gain any new followers but one.  Hey i was happy for that.
Thank you for my friends who have commented and visited and encouraged me.  I couldn't have done this without you!!
Now if you don't mind, i am going to bed. Its after 10 pm and i have worked my booty off this weekend at my junk show. It went well by the way.  That's a post coming up.

Friday, April 29, 2016

Hey yall! I am pushing it tonight to get this post in.  I had my junk show tonight from 6 to 9 and I didn't get home until 10pm.  Then my stupid laptop was dead from being unplugged.  I am exhausted but I cant mess up now when its only 2 more posts left to complete the A to Z challenge.
So for my letter Y , I am posting YAZ. They were one of my favorite bands in the 80's. It was a duo of male and female Vince Clark and Alison Moyet.  Vince was also in the band Depeche Mode which I also loved!  Then after Yaz, he was in group Erasure.  They were in the late 80;s early 90's.  I think YAZ was short for YAZOO because the album said Yazoo but the dj's always said Yaz.   Kinda strange
Their most famous and well known album was Upstairs at Eric's. I seriously love every song on the album.  I went through 2 cassettes between high school and college and I have the CD still now.
Don't Go
In my room
Only You.
My show tomorrow is tomorrow from 10 to 3 so maybe I can get my post in earlier. Have a great weekend and Only ONE more post!! Woohoo. Blogging on Saturdays sucked.  Sorry but its true.

X- As in 10

Last year during this challenge, I came up with the idea to use the letter X as the Roman numeral X which means 10.  I will continue my tradition and list 10 random things about me.

  1. Orange is my all time most favorite color!
  2. I drive a red Tacoma pickup truck and I love my truck.  Its paid off and its still going strong ( knock on wood).
  3. I have  3 tattoos and I’m about to get my 4th one. Its going on the back of my neck below my hairline.
  4. I have a side hobby/business in Junk.  My name of business is Junque Dancer and I have a show this weekend.  I have tax permit and all – totally legit!
  5. I am 5’1 ¾  so I round up of course to 5’2.  I was only 4’11 my senior year in high school and then I had growth spurt my first 2 years in college. Haha.
  6. I got to attend a private party with the Rolling Stones in Dallas. It was a few days before their concert.  That’s when Mick was married to Jerry Hall which was from here. I literally sat arms length across the table from Keith Richards. Mick hung out with Jerry in the corner of the bar .  I stole a promotional poster off the wall and I was so bummed when it got ripped years ago during a move.  I had to submit my drivers license number 2 weeks before the party and my name went on the guest list like you see in the movies.   I also went to the concert but that was on my own. It was Awesome!
  7. I also got to dance on the stage with Jimmy Buffett. He was in town for concert as well and he did a lot of promotions with Hooters.  Um , have I mentioned I was a Hooters girl?  Four of us got to push out this ginormous fake boombox on the stage and we had to pretend we were changing the dial while static played over head.  Then we “landed “ on the right station and one his songs started.  Then we just danced to the song and left the  stage.  Concert tickets were not included so we  didn’t stay. Quite honestly, he was not very friendly.  I think he thought we were dumb bimbos and didn’t give us the time of day when we were backstage.  I’ll never forget that and i wasn’t so crazy about his music anymore after that.  I understand we were Hooters waitresses BUT most all of us were smart college girls trying to make a living.  I was pissed!
  8. I am very adventurous. When I traveled full time with my job, I didn’t sit in hotel. I explored.  One time I was working in upstate New York ( Farmington , I think). I saw a sign that Niagara Falls was just a hair over 2 hours away.  So after work one night, I drove there by myself . I had dinner there and took some pictures and then came back home. It was dark and rainy but I was so happy I went.  I had no idea that years later I would be back when I was working in Canada.    On a trip to Calgary, CAN, I drove to Banff for dinner one night . It was just over an hour and it was so incredibly beautiful.  I have seen some beautiful places alone which is great but sometimes as lone woman, maybe not so smart thinking back. Oh well!
  9. I hate beer! I think it goes back to college and all the stupid keg parties with cheap gross beer.  I have tried different ones over the years and NOPE, still don’t like it.  I’ve gone to many brewery tours like the Coors plant in Colorado, Samuel Adams in Boston, etc but I pass on the free beer.
  10. I prefer salty over sweet. If I had a choice between McDonald’s fries or cake, I’ll go with the french fries.  Although, I like to dip my french fries at Wendy’s in my frosty and it’s a WIN WIN!!

W- Waylon and Willie

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson!!  I grew up listening to their music literally since a toddler.  Everyone in my family loved them and back in the 70's was when "Outlaw" music was created.  I remember buying my own albums of Willie and Waylon with my allowance money.  I saw Willie numerous times in concert starting in high school.  I had a very close friend who's boyfriend (Kyle) was CRAZY about Willie. We saw him anytime and everytime he was near DFW. In fact one time, Willie was a guest performer for some NBA basketball awards ceremony in Ft Worth and somehow Kyle found out about it. We got tickets just to see him and then left. It wasn't a full on concert but it was at least an hour's worth.  I've seen him many times since high school and he NEVER disappoints!!  I am so so happy I got to see him last year with Merle Haggard. It was so awesome.
I got to see Waylon right after I graduated high school at Billy Bob's.  I really just took it for granted that I would see more of him. Waylon was married to singer Jessi Colter and they toured together . It was so sweet to see them perform together.  So many interesting stories about Waylon. Did you know that Waylon was supposed to be on that plane with Buddy Holly the night it crashed? He gave up his seat to the Big Bopper who also perished that night.  If any of you were a fan of Dukes of Hazzard, you might know that it was Waylon who was the narrator on the show.  Honestly, we watched it because we loved Waylon but then my little brother got hooked on the show so we had to watch it.
It was a sad sad day for the family when Waylon passed on February 13, 2002.  He was only 64 and died from complications of diabetes.  I have to admit, I cried.  Sidenote as I type this: My sweet precious Nanny has diabetes and is currently in the hospital from a wound on her leg that wont heal. Her leg got very red and swollen and the Dr admitted her immediately.  Pray for her please if you're the praying kind.
Willie and Waylon both were a part of the Highwaymen group that released 3 albums.  Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson were the other Highwaymen.  Such a great group formed there!

I have to share a meme I posted today on my social media:
I will seriously cry and may have to go home if i'm at work if something happened to Willie.

This album has many fond memories for me.  We played the album constantly and I had my own copy.

V- Videos

So as a kid from the 80's, I remember watching MTV from the very first day.  I was glued to the TV and it was a life changer. I knew all the VJ's and what times  they would be on.  Music videos were a huge boost to the drill teams around the world because they would replicate the many dances seen from them.  To this day, I can literally dance the whole scene from the zombie dancing part of Thriller.  I cant hear Pat Benatar's song Love is a Battlefield without seeing her doing the shimmy shake in her dance part of the video.
Then came VH1 and now we had two music channels then the country channels joined in.  Times were changing and they were awesome! Sadly, MTV started showing TV shows like Teen Moms and before you know it, you cant see a single video anymore.  VH1 plays the top 20 countdown on Saturday's but its too late in the morning for me and i'm usually too busy to stop and watch.  I do catch some country videos when I go visit Nanny though. She likes to keep up with the country stars.
There are so many songs that I ended up liking more after seeing the video because I understand the story it was telling more.  I can still hear see the videos in my head when certain songs get played on the radio.
I loved the videos and really wish MTV would go back to showing more.  On VH1 , I've caught the old PopUP videos where they have bubbles of information pop up during a video. Its interesting to see some of the behind the scenes things they share on those. I don't know when they come in or if they still play regularly but I enjoy them.  I miss videos!!
Here are a few of my faves:

Love is a Battlefield-Pat Benatar
Thriller- Michael Jackson
These Dreams- Heart
Slow n easy- Whitesnake
Spin me round- Dead or Alive
Spirits in the material world= The Police
There's just too many but thank goodness for youtube now!!
Did you watch music video channels? Did you have a favorite?  Happy Tuesday ya'll!!  Can you believe we are in the home stretch of this crazy A to Z blogging challenge?!

U- Unbelievable

Dang! Who knew that today would be harder to blog than it is on Saturdays.
It's been a Monday for sure.  Hey better late than never.  The first thing that comes to mind for the letter U is a song. Unbelievable.
Back in the early 90's, I was in college and  was all about dancing every night that I could. Dallas had some great night clubs to go dancing with my friends. I was not really into drinking , I just wanted to dance and yes - flirt with the boys.  I was not quite 21 but the bouncers and doormen knew me and would let me in as long as they didn't see a drink in my hand.  I would periodically look over and I'd spy them looking at me making sure I was "being good".  Good times!
This song was super popular and there was an extended dance version. My girlfriends and i would all squeal and run to the dance floor when we heard it come on.  I even bought the tape but honestly I didn't like any of the other songs.  Every so often , I'll hear it now played on the radio and it still brings back fond memories of some fun times.
Its by the band EMF and song is Unbelievable

"T"- Todd

What?! It's not 10pm yet and I'm posting !! I tell ya, blogging on Saturdays is not easy for me. This is the 2nd weekend since I moved , so I feel like I have to work from dusk to dawn to get the place in order. We spent the entire morning and afternoon unpacking the garage.  I know , you'd think we would focus on the inside of the house BUT... I needed to know where some things were in the garage. To add to my all time craziness, i have my junk show that I signed up for next weekend.  I had my first show last November, and she let us sign up for the spring show at the time.  Of course, I had no idea I would be buying a house 6 months later when I signed up.  I'm really not ready but at same time, I really need to sell a lot of stuff to get out of my garage.
I wanted to mention my sweet husband Todd.  In August, we will celebrate our 3rd year wedding anniversary. We dated 2 years before we married so almost 5 years that we've been together.
Todd is 6 months older than me and I live that we're the same age.  He also loves music as much as I do. We attend many concerts and love listening to live bands.  Todd is also a drummer for our church worship band.  We often mention how lucky we are that we both love music and have quite a bit of knowledge between the two of us about bands , songs, etc.
Todd loves to ride his Harley.  Fun fact, I helped him study for his motorcycle license test 12 years ago.  I had my license years before him and when we first met, he called them Murdercycles and had no interest in bikes.  He's come full circle now!!
Todd was / is my best friend.  We met 21 years ago and became instant friends. In between those years he had moved to Houston. We never lost touch and always kept up our friendship. It was absolutely 100% platonic.  I literally did not see him as anymore than a friend. He was also married and I knew his wife and we would all hang out together sometimes. Fast forward to 2011, i had ended an 8 yr relationship with my Ex and Todd has recently divorced.  We were checking on each other just for moral support and to make sure each other were OK.   One night we stepped out for dinner, and he said to me " you realize this is the first time ever we are both single at the same time".  I just nodded and stared.  Todd then said , " I think we have to least give it a shot to see if there is chemistry between us.  Let's face it, we know everything about each other - good , bad and ugly".  I was so scared of the possibility that it could ruin our friendship, I got angry that he would even consider us dating.   Later on that week, I was talking to mom over the phone and I remember telling her " you're not going to believe what Todd did! He went THERE and made our friendship awkward. It was like Harry met Sally". Then Mom told me that she couldn't explain it but that she had good feeling about us. She felt like she knew Todd from all the years of our friendship. He used to always call me when I visited her in Montana.  She said " y'all are grown adults, if it doesn't feel right after the first date or so, stop before it jeopardizes your friendship.
Like they say, the rest is history! Todd has been my rock this past year and more. When I "broke" and became very anxious and depressed , he's been so great.  When I started counseling, he was supportive. When i lost Daddy a few months ago, he was right by my side.  I haven't been easy to live with lately with my anxiety off the hook from the move.  He hugs me and tells me it will all work out.
I love him so much and I'm so lucky that he loves me.  I still wonder why GOD has me wait until I was 45 to ever marry for the first time , then I just remind myself that HE was preparing both myself and Todd for each other in marriage.

Sometimes it Snows in April

Sometimes it Snows in April:
Tracy died soon after a long fought civil war,
Just after I'd wiped away his last tear
I guess he's better off than he was before,
A whole lot better off than the fools he left here
I used to cry for Tracy because he was my only friend
Those kind of cars don't pass you every day
I used to cry for Tracy because I wanted to see him again,
But sometimes sometimes life ain't always the way
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last
Springtime was always my favorite time of year,
A time for lovers holding hands in the rain
Now springtime only reminds me of Tracy's tears
Always cry for love, never cry for pain
He used to say so strong unafraid to die
Unafraid of the death that left me hypnotized
No, staring at his picture I realized
No one could cry the way my Tracy cried
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad
Sometimes, sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
And all good things, they say, never last
I often dream of heaven and I know that Tracy's there
I know that he has found another friend
Maybe he's found the answer to all the April snow
Maybe one day I'll see my Tracy again
Sometimes it snows in April
Sometimes I feel so bad, so bad
Sometimes I wish that life was never ending,
But all good things, they say, never last
All good things that say, never last
And love, it isn't love until it's past

Sometimes it snows in April: Prince: 1986 ( movie: Under the Cherry Moon)

I am in shock and so saddened of the death of Prince. Growing up in the 80's , he was my jam!! I played my Purple Rain cassette tape back to back . I loved all his songs. Little Red Corvette and Raspberry Beret, so fun to dance to!  I had a long white jacket that i called my Prince coat that i wore when i went out "clubbing".  His songs were part of my soundtrack in life from 80's to 90's. Yesterday, I got a text from my best friend Kimi and i had chills. I couldnt believe it.

Many cities around the world changed their lights on buildings to purple, DallasOmni hotel included:

Tribute to Prince off Youtube with his performance at Superbowl

Prince was an amazing song writer. Many people didnt realize that the song Nothing compares 2 U that Sinead O'Connor made famous was by him.  As well as Feel for you  that Chaka Khan released. There are many other songs that others released that were written by Prince.   I am bummed to say that i never did get to see him live.  So many of my friends did though and they all said his concerts were incredible.
So were you as shocked as i was? Were you/Are you a fan of his music? Did you know that he was very active Jehovah's Witness? He did not do drugs , didnt drink alcohol and he preferred people not to swear.   He definitely was eccentric though and he will go down in history as the only famous man that changed his name to a symbol.
Have a great Friday ya'll!! I am getting a new laptop today so i will be challenging starting over and adding all my programs. Joy!  Talk to ya tomorrow when i do my Saturday post. I am not a fan of those and have been sliding in my post around 10 pm.  haha!!

Rock and Roll Baby!!

I LOVE music!! We haven't had TV for weeks and I don't miss it one bit. We hooked up the stereo and I get into my unpacking groove.
I love all kinds of music. I enjoy the old school country music- Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Merle, Conway, etc.  I also listen quite a bit to contemporary Christian music. Especially since Todd is the drummer for our church worship band.
If I had to choose though, I would have to say that Rock n Roll has my heart.
Todd and I both love to see live music and we go to many concerts. It's so great to be there and hear a band live and rock out with other fellow fans.  I love all the generations of rock, from the 60's on up to today.
Do you listen to rock? I know many of you do.  Do you have a favorite band?
Its only Rock n Roll- Rolling Stones
Shook me all night long- ACDC

Little Suzi- Tesla
I love Rock n ROll- Joan Jett

Have a great day yall!!

Truly one of the best bands ever from the 70's.  Freddie Mercury was in my opinion Brilliant!! His voice and theatrics were so entertaining. Their lyrics are so great and thanks to the movie based off Saturday Night Live skit  "Waynes World", their lip-sync to Bohemian Rhapsody , brought them back to popularity to a new generation in the 90's.
I grew up listening to Queen. Both my parents were big fans so I would hear their music quite a bit.  My mom had every album. I remember her being so excited when their albums came out, we would go buy it right away and listen to it front and back.
It was so sad when Freddy Mercury passed away. He was so talented.
Are you a fan? Whats your favorite Queen song?

Here is Under Pressure with David Bowie
Fat Bottomed girls
The Show must go on

                                             Somebody to Love

If you go to any sporting event it will be highly probable that you will hear their classic hit " Another one bites the dust".   That's the one song that I do get a little tired of but its still a great song.  Here is that one:

Have a great day yall!

I'm currently in unpacking Hell! My home gives me great anxiety and I hate staring at boxes . We can only do a little bit at a time and I'm clearly running out of a patience.   It's sad when going to work everyday actually gives me peace of mind.  I imagine myself away from all the moving and unpacking and I'm on a far away beach resort that resembles Paradise.  Laying by the ocean, listening to waves crash into the shore, a fruity drink with an umbrella in it and not a worry in the world except wondering what amazing seafood dish will be for dinner. Will it be lobster , shrimp or crab legs?  Heck, it's paradise so I am skinny and I can have the pleasure of it all!!
What about you? Where is your paradise? Do you have an active imagination like i do? Haha!
Have a great day y'all!!

"O"- Organ donor?

Are you an organ donor? Did you know you can make sure by going online? It's on your drivers license so log into your DMV and simply check the organ donor box.
I'm very passionate about Organ Donation!!! Why? My sweet Daddy was diagnosed with a rare lung disease almost 6 years ago. It progressed rapidly and I watched Daddy decline and end up confines to a wheelchair and an oxygen machine.  It was the most amazing phone call I'll ever remember when Dad got the call to get to hospital for his lung transplant.  He received a double lung transplant.  Weeks later, he walked me down the aisle at my wedding with no oxygen and no wheelchair.  We got almost 3 more years of a full vibrant life. I wouldn't trade these last 3 years for all the money in the world . Seeing Daddy have those extra years were priceless and all because a selfless amazing person was a donor.  When Daddy passed a few months ago, He of course was also a donor. He donated what he could and the hospital also was going to use what they needed for science and medicine.  I like to think that the surgeons, professors and doctors will discover a cure from daddy's organ donation.

Please consider being an organ donor.
Thanks y'all!  - happy Monday

New York

Last year a few weeks after my stepdad passed in January ( yep he passed last January and Daddy passed this January),  I had to travel to New Jersey for business trip.  I flew into the Newark airport.  It was  a quick trip but I made sure we went into NYC for 2 nights to have dinner.  I just really love New York! I love the energy, the vibe, the history , the smells.
If I ever win the lottery, I would be a loft in Manhattan facing Central Park.

So, I feel a wee little bit better today about the the house. We unpacked like crazy and got a lot done.  The best news is that we got cable and internet today!!! We switched to time Warner cable and they sent someone today. Yippee!  We still don't have one completed room so we have to come home from church tomorrow and keep the momentum. We are completely out of the old house as of today. We picked up my trailer and turns in the keys.
We had dinner with some friends from church last night and had a great evening. We had to call it short though because Todd's back was hurting him .  My knee is black and blue and my wrist has given out twice. So many aches and pains! Boo.
Tonight we had a fun evening at a close local bar with our friends Mark and Debbie and it was a good night. We had some laughs and drinks and just got home when I realized - oh dear i have to blog !!! LOL! Again like last Saturday , sliding in at 10 pm with 2 hrs to spare.
Hope you're having a great weekend so far.   Talk to y'all Monday!

"M" - Moving

I thought it would be a great idea to do the A to Z challenge at the exact time I was about to move.  I must have packed my common sense along with the rest of my crap.  I had no other choice but to use Moving as my subject since I've mentioned it in almost every post.
Today marks one week since moving day officially and when we closed on our house.   It's been a challenge. I can't say that our move has gone smoothly.
Our first night in house, Todd makes a trip to Home Depot at 9:45 ( they close at 10) and we have to replace the thermostat. It was 85 degrees inside our house and too hot to sleep!
Our keypad quit working for good on our garage but fortunately we have our garage door openers now.
My dog Jax had never once been around water, takes a dive in our swimming pool because he saw Lila on the other side of pool. We think he thought it was blue concrete or something since he's never seen a pool. He instinctively started to paddle thank goodness. I took my shoes and glassss off about to jump in.
Lila has discovered rabbits. She has killed 3 of them. She brought a bloody dead one into our room that has carpet.
I had to then find carpet cleaner for the blood. I now have huge stains worse than the blood from the oxy clean.
All we have left at old house is to get my trailer and hook it up to my truck and bring to new house. We've gone to house every night picking up small stuff we didn't want the movers to bother with.
I hurt my right hand pretty good. My thumb and pointer finger are swollen. If I hold anything in that hand, my wrist collapses. Todd and I have cuts and bruises all over from bumping into boxes, moving furniture around, you name it.
My house is too small! I have no room for anything and it's hard to unpack when you don't have a place to put things.  I know it will get better eventually but I'm so overwhelmed and I hate it!
Our cable/ internet guy was supposed to be here this past Tuesday. No one showed up or called. Then they were supposed to show up yesterday, nope. After being transferred to 4 people and having to repeat everything 4 times, the earliest they can come is the 22nd. That's 10 days later than the first original date of Tuesday 12! I don't care not having TV the last 10 days and 10 days more, what I do have to have is Internet.  Especially now that work is so strict using the web for anything not work related.
Moving sucks!! I hate it .  I pray for strength and patience to get my house in order very soon so that I don't hate my house.
I'm grateful to have a newer home to live in. I'm grateful to have a roof over my head.  I don't want to sound like a selfish brat.  One day, I want to share pictures of the house with y'all but if you were to see them now, you would call the tv show Hoarders and report me.  Better yet, they do always put the home together at end of show. Hmmm, maybe they would come unpack and organize for me.
Last night after work we went to old house to pick up trailer, my truck has hitch on it that is locked. Didn't have the key.  Looked for hours when I get home and finally found it. Wasted trip!!
I know this what i sound like!! Lol

Hope y'all have a great weekend. I think y'all know what I'll be doing.
