Unusual questions part 3

Good morning! Hope your weekend was a great one.  Mine was nice but as usual way too quick.  I didn’t get any pictures but on Saturday, Todd and I test drove some new 2017 Harley’s. I drove the new trike and he rode a roadglide which is what he has today.  It was SO fun!! We were in the neighborhood of where we used to live and it was a spontaneous road trip but it was worth it.
I am going to have another crazy crazy busy week with work but I am really going to try to get my posts done of more questions.  I find these to be fun and easy to post.  Maybe some of the questions will inspire a post for yall if any of you need some ideas. I know sometimes my well runs dry on what to post about.
So here are some more:

1.       Who is your celebrity crush?i have mentioned this a few times already on my blog but I will gladly say again. Its Charlie Hunnam from Sons of Anarchy.
2.       Do you read a lot? Whats your favorite book? I do read a lot. I subscribe to magazines and I have zillions of books.  Its hard to name a favorite but I like the classics such as Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking glass
3.       Money or brains? Why not both? I do have a magnet on my desk though that says Oh to be computer smart instead of beautiful.  LOL!  I obviously don’t think I’m beautiful but I laugh at fact I am considered IT department
4.       Do you have a nickname? If so what is it? Hollikins- Holli girl, and then theres my aunt that calls me holliann which is my first and middle name as one.
5.       How many times have you been to the hospital? Not sure if this was meant for ourselves or in general. Sadly I was at hospital A LOT last 2 years with Daddy’s transplant, etc.  Then todd had gallbladder surgery in February and I had kidney stones in june.  I don’t care to be back in a long time.
6.       Top 10 favorite songs: Lightning crashes ( Live), Me and bobby mcgee ( janis joplin), I walk the line ( johnny cash),  sweet child o mine ( GNR), My kinda lover ( billy squire), heroes have always been cowboys( willie nelson), don’t come around here no more ( tom petty), Talk to me ( stevie nicks), seven spanish angels ( willie and ray charles), Here I go again ( white snake)
7.       Do you take medications daily? Sadly yes!
8.       What is your biggest fear? I think I had this question before- dying in a fiery car crash.
9.       what is your skin type ( oily, dry, combo, etc) Dry mostly with oily at times
10.   whats your go to hair style? Twisted in a clip
11.   What type of house do you live in (big , small, condo, etc)? small brick home ( with pool)

12.   Who is your role model? I have a dear friend and coworker that I’ve known now for over 20 years. She is my role model. She’s the smartest woman I know with our work systems and is a great leader. She recently lost both her husband and her mother (both last year) and yet she walks with head high and remains professional at work .  Wendy is a strong Christian woman that walks by faith and is loving and helpful.

Have a wonderful day !! Did i mention i got speeding ticket this morning? sucky but not letting it get me down.

Rock and Roll Baby!!

I LOVE music!! We haven't had TV for weeks and I don't miss it one bit. We hooked up the stereo and I get into my unpacking groove.
I love all kinds of music. I enjoy the old school country music- Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Merle, Conway, etc.  I also listen quite a bit to contemporary Christian music. Especially since Todd is the drummer for our church worship band.
If I had to choose though, I would have to say that Rock n Roll has my heart.
Todd and I both love to see live music and we go to many concerts. It's so great to be there and hear a band live and rock out with other fellow fans.  I love all the generations of rock, from the 60's on up to today.
Do you listen to rock? I know many of you do.  Do you have a favorite band?
Its only Rock n Roll- Rolling Stones
Shook me all night long- ACDC

Little Suzi- Tesla
I love Rock n ROll- Joan Jett

Have a great day yall!!

My newest favorite song of the week

If we're friends on Facebook that you already know what I'm posting.  Are you familiar with the band Disturbed? They're most popular song is Down with the Sickness and that was a long time ago. Well they released their new album in August of this year. One of the tracks is a cover of Simon and Garfunkels song Sound of Silence. Y'all I can't get enough of this song!!! It's so dark, haunting ,chilling, powerful but still respectful to the original.
I love it and hope y'all enjoy it too.

S for Songs

Happy Wednesday yall!!  To my faithful followers that I've been with me for ages- can you believe that I've made it this far in the A to Z challenge? Me either!!  I will admit that i'm glad I did because I've met some really nice people along the way.

I have a serious post for Thursday ( letter T) so I am taking it easy with today's post and i'm posting songs again.  If you're not familiar with this challenge, some people (most) choose a topic for the all the posts. Many have chosen songs or artists for their theme so I'm not really cheating at all.  In fact , I wish I would have thought of that idea when I started the challenge.  Maybe next time.  SO.... with the letter S, I have way way way too many bands to choose from and I want to include a little bit of different styles today.
I am going to start with Santana.  They've been around for quite some time and I enjoy their music. This song is a collaboration with one of my favorites Rob Thomas.  Matter of fact, I heard rumors that Rob met his wife Marisol while doing this video with Santana.  Another fact about Carlos Santana, did you know he also designed a shoe line? Very cool and fun sexy shoes. I have 2 pairs!

Now this next band is called Selah and they are a Christian contemporary group.  I really like their music and this song really got me through the passing of my step-dad a few months ago in January.

Next is Stevie Nicks. She is one of my all time faves! She is also part of the popular band Fleetwood Mac.

If you like country- Sara Evans is a popular singer and this song helped me when I broke it off from a toxic 8 year relationship. I was in love or so I thought and I knew I was doing the right thing but it sure hurt at the time.  Cool fact - I worked with her brother Matt Evans. We were great friends and he left to be her bassist in the band. I got to see her backstage and hung out with Matt but we lost touch over the years.

This guy was from Dallas, Texas and my mom was HUGE fan of him.   Stevie Ray Vaughn.

And lastly- a newer pop singer that is taking the awards by storm is Sam Smith.
He has such a great voice and I like almost every song I've heard so far.

Hope y'all have a super day!!!

R for Rock n Roll

I love music- i'm kinda obsessed with music- I have to listen to music everyday!!

Here are some songs from bands starting with R:

Rolling Stones.  I've seen them 3 times already in concert and they were amazing. They are actually coming back to Dallas in June and Todd cant decide if he wants to go or not.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Rob Thomas (lead singer of Matchbox Twenty and solo artist)

R.E.M
 The Ramones

There are so many like REO Speedwagon, Rise Against, Rob Zombie but yall get the idea.
I'm closing with 2 more:

Todd's favorite band ever  RUSH. He's seen them in concert countless times and has all their music.  I saw them a few years ago for the first time in Houston.

and lastly I cant NOT mention Robert Plant ( lead singer of Led Zeppelin).  He's too cool!

Some of the songs are kinda mellow but their rock all the same.
Have a wonderful day!!

A to Z Challenge- Letter "B" not Let Her Be

So my B will be for the band Blue October.  They are a Texas band (Houston) and have had many hits on National radio and MTV.  I love them! Justen is the main singer and songwriter and he's amazing. I've been going through some rough stuff lately personally and his songs really speak to me and I listen to them from my ipod every day.
I've posted about them before because as mentioned they're one of my faves. They're newer album released is titled Sway and its mostly about Justen and the band's new outlook on life. I follow the band and Justen separately on Facebook and twitter and Justen is all about his fans. If someone comes up to him while touring or even just shopping- he stops to pose for picture with them and he mentions them on FB. He really appreciates his fans.
Here are a couple of songs from the newest album:

Bleed out

And this one is Fear which is amazing:

See ya tomorrow.....

Music moves me!

Happy Thursday y'all!! Its been a very busy week for me at work and its flown by. I'm glad tomorrow is Friday.  This Saturday , i'm going to a Junk sale and going to see a few of my sweet friends that are so creative. I cant wait!!
I think I've mentioned before that Todd is the drummer for our church band. He loves it and I love him doing it! There is a church that shares our same building but has their services on Saturday nights and their band is called No Regrets. They are such a great band and have a few CD's even. Todd really likes them and had mentioned that if they ever need a backup drummer , to consider him. Well, this Saturday he gets to fill in. The original drummer is out of town and they called Todd. He's so excited!  Then he has to still play 2 services on Sunday for our church. He has a lot of practicing these next few days.

Do you have anything fun planned this weekend?

I'm posting today about music because I just simply cant live without it. I play music every morning while I get dressed for work and put my makeup on, I listen to more when I get in my truck on way to work, and I listen to it from my laptop while at my desk. Right now, i'm watching the Tv show The Voice and so I even get my music fix in the evenings.  I love that I have such a wide variety of songs on my ipod and that I can listen to a hard core rock song and then next song is a Christian song.
I post a lot about music because its who I am.

A time to dance - A time to mourn

Hey y'all!  So yesterday was our last day of being Unisource of which I was employed for almost 19 years.  Today is our first official day of being new company and new coworkers.  Tomorrow will be the day of celebration though where we will have the ringing of the bell on Wall Street and some hubbub around the office.  As I've mentioned, the company we merged with has many of past employees that I've worked with and so its nice to be a family again.
After 19 years I am saying goodbye to a company that I truly grew to love.  Today we merge with another company, take a new name, and go public.  Although we've had our ups and downs, we had a good run, made some great friendships, and just maybe changed some lives.
I cant say that I didn't have anxiety on Monday coming to work knowing that everything i'm used to will be forever changed but at same time its exciting.  All I can do is do the best at my job and PRAY that the new CEO wont make me wear panty hose!!
I am singing this in my head now. The song Turn Turn Turn by The Byrds.

I have 19 yrs of company swag! Hmmm.

And here is Jax watching me get ready this morning. It's good to have his support.

Stay tuned tomorrow where I will post about Dallas and be a part of a fun blog hop.  Happy Tuesday!

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. What summer activity most takes you back to your own childhood? Probably jumping thru the sprinklers in our back yard. We didn’t have a pool and my cousins and I would go to my grandma’s house and would play hours outside running and jumping through the sprinklers. It was so much fun! We also had a slip n slide and wore that out as well.

2. What's your favorite summer smell? Hmmm, Probably the smell of suntan lotion. The coconut-lemon smell will automatically take you to memories of the beach or swimming pool.

  3. It's beach season in the US of A...so how do you feel about sand? I don’t mind the sand. In fact, I dream of having my toes in the sand right about now. When I travel anywhere there is a beach, I have my own tradition that I have to put my feet in the sand. Even if its winter.

  4. Sun tea, SunChips, sunflower seeds, Capri Sun, Sunny Delight, Sun-Maid raisins, sun-dried tomatoes...your favorite food or beverage with sun in its name? Sunflower seeds and then sunchips. I really love the unshelled sunflower seeds. I eat them quite a bit

. 5. What's your favorite way to cool off on a hot summer day? The older I get, the heat really gives me headaches and I am more sensitive to the sun. I enjoy air-conditioned cool rooms with cold frozen beverages

. 6. Share a favorite song with the word sun or sunshine in it's title.
First one that comes to mind is Here comes the sun by the Beatles and then my childhood song- You are my Sunshine, My only Sunshine, You make me happy when skies are gray….
7. Tell us about a time you had an exceedingly good or truly awful customer service experience. If it was awful, did you report it? Ever go back there again? I’ve had a few awful experiences with customer service but I didn’t report them. I probably should have. I was in Pennsylvania on business with 3 other coworkers and we stopped at this restaurant we had seen that had cars in parking lot so we figured it might be good. They were terribly understaffed. The hostess sat us quickly but then our waitress never showed up for another 15 minutes. I got up asked the manager if we had a waitress assigned to our table- the waitress came over and Literally yelled at us. She said we are very busy and its not going to do you any good to tell the manager! I cant tell you how I fumed over this for days. I new I would never go back because I don’t live there but I never wanted to slap a waitress before until then.
  8. Insert your own random thought here. So this week I began my training to the other company we’re merging with ( the enemy). I’ve been so busy preparing and training that the blog posts are not happening this week. I got to office extra early today so I can at least post to the hodgepodge link. I love it! I hope to maybe post tomorrow or Friday though.  Have  a great day y'all!
