Ups and Downs

Happy Hump Day.  I tell ya, I am plugging along staying busy prepping for my Junk Show in 3 weeks and the big Gala for Refuge for Women event the same weekend.

I am sanding and painting and getting things together. I’ll post pics of some of my things I repainted another day . I had a meeting last night with RFW making centerpieces and getting handouts and stuff ready. We have one more meeting next week to tie up all loose ends before the event. Its going to be so great because we have a wonderful guest speaker and an auction with some awesome things. There are spa packages, hotel rooms, jewelry, and even a  few guns ( hey we’re in Texas and the gala is in rural area) , some purses, all kinds of stuff for the auction.  I can’t wait!  Yall will hear all about it after the event.

So this past weekend was filled with a lot of emotions. The lowest of low and the highest of highs and it really messed with my body and mind.  A very dear friend of mine was in a horrific car accident last Thursday night/Friday am. She and her husband were hit by a car driving 100 MPH.  For all of Friday, it was 50/50 on whether she would survive.  I was drained from holding my breath literally for hours. Slowly she is showing improvement. They were finally able to wean her off the ventilator yesterday. She’s still sedated and will be in ICU for a while.  She broke her arm – a bone popped through her skin and they operated on that and put in a plate, she broke her neck but is not paralyzed, almost all her ribs are broke on right side and some on the left, and fractured pelvis.  We don’t know how much brain damage she may have.  Her husband was driving and has stitches on his mouth from the air bag and is just beat up and sore from the impact.  They were driving her old BMW and she was T-boned on passenger side after he hit them from behind and spun them around.
My friend and I have been friends for over 30 years.  We were Hooters girls together when I was in college.  She caught my bouquet at our wedding. The thought of losing her was crushing.  I am an empath. I absorb others pain and sadness as well as happiness.  I woke up Saturday morning after  really not sleeping at all just a weight around my neck waiting for any signs of good news from Dr updates.

On the opposite side of spectrum, my cousin adopted a precious beautiful baby girl that was born early Saturday am and that was what we so needed.  I didn’t ask permission to post pic of baby so maybe another day for that.  The baby was such a special gift. My cousin Lauren and her husband Chris ,adopted a sweet baby boy (Amos) 2 years and it was a wonderful occasion. We knew about the whole process and knew when the baby was due, etc.  Literally seconds after Amos was born, they drove to the hospital and got to hold him just hours later.  Our new baby Evie was a different story.  They actually got to be at the hospital during birth and Lauren even got to cut the umbilical cord.  I know being there during the birth will be a memory so special for them. The adoption process came very quick and with only a few weeks’ notice but it all worked out perfectly.

My friend has a very long painful road ahead of her but she survived and she’s a fighter. I can breathe again just knowing that.

Friends, life is so fleeting. As cliché as it is,  hug your loved ones and tell them every day that you love them.

I haven’t shared a picture lately of my dogs. They bring me great joy as you know if you follow me on IG. LOL I post them a lot!

Here is my handsome Jax. His favorite place is on top of the couch pillow.

This and That

Good morning y'all!! How is it already Thursday ?  I am swamped at work and it's going to be even worse next week.  Remember how I've mentioned that my company merged into our competitor 2 years ago? Well now, it's time that we start merging our computer systems and it begins next week.  The good news is that on Thursday next week, I'll be on a plane heading to Boston.  I have mixed feelings about my vacation because I am so ready for it and desperately need it. So does Todd.  We've had a lot going on lately.  I just feel bad leaving right in the middle of things at work.  My vacation was approved months before we had set dates for the conversion.  They always get pushed back, etc so we were told on our team  to just schedule the time off.  Oh well, I can't change it now.
Labor Day weekend was great. It was relaxing and we didn't have every day planned . We had lunch with family one day, and had dinner and drinks with some friends last Friday night.  That was a lot of fun to just hang out and laugh.
I even got a little painting in over the weekend.
I went to HomeGoods a few weeks ago and saw a table that I fell in love with. It was a little bigger than I wanted and I really I couldn't afford the price of 150$.
It did inspire me though to paint the table I had in our guest bathroom.  I also painted a huge birdcage red and gold but I forgot to take a picture.  I'm going to put fake snow and make a little Christmas scene in it.
My table I painted has a bright pink line in the center and in the grooves of the legs. It's hard to see from my terrible pic.

My friend Scott flew in from Florida with his girlfriend Amy over the weekend . They stayed with the other couple in this pic. I met the other couple that lives here last year when Scott was in town.  We had so much fun all getting together and laughing . A few margarita swirls were consumed.   The crazy thing I can't believe we did was all eat a cricket. Yep , you read that right- Amy had bought a box of bacon cheese flavored crickets in Ft Worth and brought them to dinner.
After we ate dinner and finishing our last drink- we ate the cricket. Lol
Still can't believe we did that but it DID taste like bacon and cheese!!! Lol
We got in some time on the Harley and had a nice ride.  All in all it was great weekend.
This week at work has been hell and very stressful .  This week is also my 21 year anniversary with my job.  Crazy!!
Gotta run but I hope y'all have a great week and I'm going to try my hardest to post next week. I still have plenty of unusual questions to post.

"Z"- Zodiac

Hey ya'll, i'm sure at least 1000 people probably picked Zodiac but hey, i'm running on fumes today. I almost groaned out loud when I decided to blog about Zodiac because it is pretty cliché but i don't have a lot of Z words in my vocabulary. In fact, last year i wrote about Zinfandel because i love wine so i couldn't repeat that at least back to back.
My zodiac sign is Taurus. Taurus the Bull.
Time period: April 19, 2016 – May 20, 2016 ( My birthday is the 17th so i am almost a Gemini)
It is the second astrological sign in the zodiac,  it follows Aries.
The traits: ( found on the internet)
Strengths: Reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible, stable
Weaknesses: Stubborn, possessive, uncompromising
Taurus likes: Gardening, cooking, music, romance, high quality clothes, working with hands
Taurus dislikes: Sudden changes, complications, insecurity of any kind, synthetic fabrics

I cracked up when i read the dislike of synthetic fabrics. It reminded me of a funny story of when i was a kid. I took dance and it was picture day. My mom bought me a new pair of tights just for the picture. She took them right our of the package at the dance studio and i cried because they were super itchy.  I threw a fit and my mom got so mad but then she said "FINE! Where your old tights that have a hole in them". So i did wear them, and i did have a hole in my tights on my leg in my pictures.  Oh well!! My tights were so soft and comfy.
Big surprise -a like is Music!!

I did it!!! You did it!!! We did it!!!!  I was in such a slump and didn't have the want, the energy, the words, the content to post. I didn't want to NOT blog and i missed it. I just couldn't it.  I was frozen in grief and couldn't move forward.  I thought i lost my mind to sign up for the this blogging challenge but it was just what i needed to jumpstart me. It was crazy and hard some days, but i did it.
There were days i was able to visit much more than the standard 5 new blogs.  Then there were days i couldn't even reply back to my commenters.   I did meet some new bloggers and that's always fun. I didn't gain any new followers but one.  Hey i was happy for that.
Thank you for my friends who have commented and visited and encouraged me.  I couldn't have done this without you!!
Now if you don't mind, i am going to bed. Its after 10 pm and i have worked my booty off this weekend at my junk show. It went well by the way.  That's a post coming up.

Letter "E"

I am smack in the middle of packing and moving this week. Bad news is that our closing day got pushed back a day to Friday but good news is that i have all day tomorrow to pack more.  Moving is Exhausting and Emotional and Exciting all at once.  I am not sleeping well and am Eager to get rest soon to have Endurance and Energy to get me through. ! This move seems Enormous and .  I do appreciate all your Encouragement.
Last night after work, i went home and packed several boxes before we headed out for a nice dinner with a close friend of mine Kathy that was visiting from Wichita, Kansas.  I was so Excited for her to finally meet my husband Todd.  When i've visited Kansas lately, Todd has not traveled with me.  I really Enjoyed our visit and the burger and fries was just Enough to leave with a great Experience at a new restaurant. It was nice to Engage in an evening with fun friends and to Ease my mind for an hour or so without thinking of the move.

Hope all of you have an  Exceptional Day!

Blue October is one of my favorite bands so here's a song a song with E in it ( Angels in Everything)

Battle of the Bands- Everybody Hurts

I have been MIA.  Its not by choice. I have really wanted to blog more but i have too much going on right now. I am busy at work and on a personal note, i've been trying to be there for a dear friend as her husband was in his final stages of life this week. He passed away last night.  I'll talk more about it another day because i just cant right now.  I do have a battle though and the song is fitting.

Everybody Hurts is originally written and sung by the band R.E.M.  I am a big fan of R.E.M and the lead singer Michael Stipe.  I have posted their songs more than a few times on my blog.
Here is the original:

My battle begins with Joe Cocker.  Joe Cocker has had a list of hits and my favorites were  With a Little help from my friends,  and You can keep your hat on.  He did a cover of this song Everybody Hurts.   Rest in Peace  Joe.  He passed last year in December 2014.

The next in the battle is David Archuleta.  He is a very talented singer and got recognized more when he was on the show American Idol.
Here is his version of Everybody hurts :

So pick between Joe or David and at least i have to be back for sure next week for the results right?! I will be back. I havent even shared my trip to Montana with yall yet and its been 2 weeks ago.  Please know that i will comment on your blogs when i can and i really do miss yall.

Here are the other battles and please go vote at theirs. I always learn more about music during these battles.
