Missing ol' Johnny Cash and Stevie Ray Vaughn

Happy Thursday y'all!!!   So its no secret i'm obsessed with Johnny Cash. I loved him and i am so bummed i never got to see him in concert.  I have a dozen tshirts with his name on it, my screensaver on laptop is Walk the Line, and i have his CD in constant rotation.
I am also equally obsessed with Willie Nelson.  I have seen him in concert a dozen times and i love every single time.  I recently saw Willie and Merle Haggard in concert a few months ago.   They released an album together called Django and Jimmie earlier this year.  One of the songs on the album is titled Missing Ol' Johnny Cash.  Its such a cute song! The two of them sing about Johnny and share some memories of him.
This is good ol classic country!!  Willie and Merle are country royalty.

25 years ago today , Stevie Ray Vaughn died in a helicopter crash in Wisconsin.   My mom was a HUGE fan of SRV.  He was a Texan and got his stardom playing in bars and clubs in Austin. He was born and raised in Dallas and started playing guitar when he was 7.  I was in college and was a waitress in downtown Dallas when i heard the news he had died.  It was a big deal in Dallas and all the radio stations played his music.  I got to see him in concert at Billy Bobs in Ft Worth the year before he had died.

Have a wonderful day everyone

Y- YOU are my Sunshine

Its been raining A LOT here lately in Dallas. We've had some crazy thunder and lightning storms and today it didn't get over 60 degrees.  That's unheard of in Dallas at this time of year.  Now I am not complaining in the least bit. I hate- yes I said hate- our summers! They are brutal and way too hot to have fun in the summer. I like that our lakes are filling up and the grass is green and not brown and crunchy.  However, with all this rain I need some sunshine to brighten my days.

Because there isn't anything better than Johnny Cash singing You are my Sunshine to June Carter.

You are my Sunshine PrintableHope yall have a sunshiny day!!! One more day of the A to Z challenge.  Cant believe it.

A love like Johnny and June

So yesterday I came across an article on the internet about love letters from famous people to their loves. One of them just really stuck with me because I am huge huge fan of Johnny Cash. He wrote the sweetest hand written letter to his 2nd wife June Carter Cash. This is a birthday letter to her written in 1994 which wasn't that long ago really.  It was voted by the BBC the most romantic love letter of all time.  Johnny died in 2003 soon after June passed.
With Valentines day this weekend- the love between the two of them are inspiring.

We get old and get use to each other. We think alike. We read each others minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.
But once in awhile, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.
Happy Birthday Princess.
John

How sweet are they?!  Now I know that he was married when he met June (hence Ring of Fire) but he was so in love with June and his first wife also remarried and lived happily ever after.

Do you have any plans for Valentines Day? I am taking Friday off to get some stuff done and I will pick up something for Todd then.  I love being married and having a Valentine!
