Happy Valentines Day Yall

I am so super excited to link up this year with Holly at Holly's Horrorland. She hosts a Valentine soiree every year and I had just missed it when I found her blog last year.  Not only do we share the same name, we share the love for all things spooky and Halloweeny (yep I made up the word).
I found some fun Valentines cards this year on Etsy that are based off horror movies!!! I love them and passed them out to my team at work.
So I am going to share some vintage Halloweenish ( I like that word too) Valentine's with yall.

Todd has been out of town this week on business but he's coming home tonight. I gave him strict instructions not to send me flowers. Its like lighting money on fire because its so expensive and they're never like the pictures he chooses from and they don't last long at all.  He got me something even better because he visited the Harley plant in York, PA this week and got me a surprise from there. LOL He cant keep secrets so at least I don't know what it is.  Just that he got me something from there which is awesome!!   We will probably go to one of our fave Mexican restaurants because they don't do the set menu with jacked up prices like other places on this day.

Catching Up- Bob Seger,Girls movie night and Valentines with Tig

Oh my goodness! I was doing so good there for a few weeks on blogging and then BAM - I'm behind.  I have good reasons. Crazy busy with work and not feeling well.  So I left off here on the blog during the week of Valentines. I had such a fun and busy weekend.

It started with concert tickets to see Bob Seger that Thursday night (2/12).  Todd came home early from work and we went to dinner first at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants Avilla's. They have the best mango margaritas in town! After dinner we were real close to the stadium so we got parked. I bought a tshirt while the opening band was playing. I didn't even catch the name of them but they weren't famous.   The concert was fantastic!!! I grew up listening to his albums with my mom and I sang along word for word.  What was cool was I told Todd that I hoped he played 2 specific songs that were my favorites - and he actually opened up with first song with one of my songs. Yay!! 

The only bummer of the night is getting out of the parking lot after concert. What a nightmare! It took us over 45 minutes just to get out of the lot. Still worth it! 

The following night was Friday the 13th. I took the day off work because I had to get some blood work done that morning so my Dr will refill my meds. I got a pedicure after the clinic and went to the Harley shop for Todd valentine gifts. I had plans with some of my blogger friends to meet in Ft Worth to have dinner and to see a movie ( 50 shades of grey).  I rode with girlfriend Julie because she lived out in that direction and knew where to go . It was such a fun night! Matter of fact, I tried some real sushi and it was pretty tasty.  The movie theatre was also a studio grill which meant they served food and drinks during the movie.  I had a milkshake for dessert and it hit the spot. 

The movie was OK but I went to spend the time with friends that I don't see often  enough.

Valentine's Day fell on a Saturday this year and it happened to be gorgeous outside.  Todd and I slept late (7am) and walked across the street to a yummy restaurant that serves great breakfasts.  After breakfast, we drove to one of our favorite Harley shops that's about 30 minutes away.  Todd made an appointment for me to test drive the newer trike that came out this year.  I loved it! It took some getting used to because there's no leaning at all. Todd took it for a spin too.  I was very tempted to buy one that day but I have a few credit cards I want to pay off first. But one day IT WILL BE MINE!!!

Later in the evening, Todd had planned  such a fun time for Valentines. As yall know, Sons of Anarchy was our favorite show that had its last season a few months ago. One of the main characters was Tig played by Kim Coates. Kim was doing a fundraiser for cancer and was at a Harley shop in Grand Prairie. Earlier that day he signed autographs for 20$ and he did that for hours. We didn't do that. Instead, there was a small intimate VIP dinner with 75 other fans and Kim. He spoke to us for a while and then posed for pictures and signed autographs for all of us. He asked for some Texas BBQ and it was catered in. They had a bartender as well and everything was delicious.  It was such a special and unique way to spend Valentines Day with my hubby.  It was a little pricey but totally worth it!

It was a jam packed weekend but fun and memorable.  I had to travel to Nee Jersey the following Monday and that will be a whole other post.  Stay tuned...

Valentines Day Hodgepodge

So I am a few days late but in sake of playing along AND having a post today, here’s my hodgepodge from Wednesday’s questions.

1. Have you ever written a love letter? Have you written one recently? Had one written to you? Did you keep it?   I have written a love letter and I have received a love letter.  I kept it for a while but just recently parted with it now that I’m married. I wish I still had one though from a boy when I was in junior high. It was so cute and he wrote lyrics from a song from the band WHO- you better you bet.

2. What's a movie that ends in a way you especially love?  Ok its totally sappy times a hundred but I love the Notebook.  When they die together at the end- or lord the tears just cant stop.  Its sad but I love that the ending is with them never apart.

3. Something that makes your heart sing? And for those of you who are parents, I mean something besides your children that makes your heart sing?  Quite a few things make my heart sing.  Listening to music, my sweet fur babies, cuddling with my husband every night before we go sleep, reading a good book, talking on phone with my friends, riding the Harley…..

4. What's the last event you had to attend, phone call you had to make, routine task you needed to complete, or meal you had to prepare, that you did do, but only half-heartedly? Probably swiffering the hard wood floors.  I did it the other day but just barely skimmed the surface. 

5. Tuna fish salad-yay or blech? If you said yay, how do you like your tuna salad prepared? Hey, this is the Hodgepodge, right?  Blech.  I used to like tuna when I was a kid that something switched in high school and I cant even stand the smell.  I  wished I liked it. 

6. What's something you 'know by heart'? I can sing whole albums front to back – every word that I know by heart .  Especially older albums I grew up listening to with mom ( Fleetwood Mac, Journey, Foreigner, Waylon Jennings).  

7. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, what two or three word phrase would you write on a conversation heart for someone you love? That someone could be a spouse, child, parent, cousin, bestie...anyone at all whom you love.   My bestie and I always say Love you More.   I tell Todd often You’re All Mine.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  I know that most people feel that Valentines is a made up day to make money for stores, Hallmark and Restaurants.  I cant help it though, I have always enjoyed the day. It goes back to decorating brown lunch bags in school and having a party with punch and cupcakes.   There’s nothing wrong with having a day designated to say I love you.  I’ve been single for many many years  and I still didn’t hate Valentines.  Another topic that’s bugging me is the crazy judging taking place to see 50 Shades of Grey.  I  am going tomorrow with some girlfriends that I love hanging out with and haven’t seen in ages.  We are having dinner and seeing the movie.  I am going to spend fun time with friends.  My friends are good Christian girls that are also happily married and or dating and there’s nothing wrong with seeing a sexy movie.   Judge us all you want.  I’m not expecting to see an Oscar worthy movie.  I’m also not going to pick it apart on all the awkward parts that may be in it.  It’s a night to enjoy.

A love like Johnny and June

So yesterday I came across an article on the internet about love letters from famous people to their loves. One of them just really stuck with me because I am huge huge fan of Johnny Cash. He wrote the sweetest hand written letter to his 2nd wife June Carter Cash. This is a birthday letter to her written in 1994 which wasn't that long ago really.  It was voted by the BBC the most romantic love letter of all time.  Johnny died in 2003 soon after June passed.
With Valentines day this weekend- the love between the two of them are inspiring.

We get old and get use to each other. We think alike. We read each others minds. We know what the other wants without asking. Sometimes we irritate each other a little bit. Maybe sometimes take each other for granted.
But once in awhile, like today, I meditate on it and realize how lucky I am to share my life with the greatest woman I ever met. You still fascinate and inspire me. You influence me for the better. You’re the object of my desire, the #1 Earthly reason for my existence. I love you very much.

How sweet are they?!  Now I know that he was married when he met June (hence Ring of Fire) but he was so in love with June and his first wife also remarried and lived happily ever after.
