My rocknroll weekend and tornadoes

My weekend- Saturday morning i picked up my niece and went to garage sales. I totally scored on some vintage Christmas items!! I got that awesome Christmas tree that is narrow for a window sill from an estate sale. Then the next stop, I came across this box of vintage hand blown glass ornaments that are 2 layers in the box. Yall i got for 2$ on those ornaments.  I also grabbed some old silver items for my Steampunk party for Holliween.  I also bought a bumper boat raft that goes in the pool for 2$! It was originally 160$, then had a clearance sale price of 57$ from Macy's and i paid 2. Yay!! My nieces had fun playing with it on Memorial Day when they came over. I wish there would have been 2 of them. It does a good reverse and you can steer it.

The BFD concert was a long lineup of bands : The Dirty Nil, Glorious Sons, Bad Wolves, Thrice, LIVE, In this Moment, Seether, and Shinedown.  We missed the first 3 bands because Todd didn't want to go down there in the heat all day. I did want to see Bad Wolves but it was a good compromise because we still got to see 5 bands.  It was soooo fun!! We went to this event 3 years ago when Shinedown was headlining then.  I was not too familiar with Thrice but i ended up liking them. There were people that knew every word to their songs so they were popular.  Live was of course excellent and one of the main reasons i bought the tickets. That was my 3rd time to see them and i saw Ed Kowalcyk when he was solo.   In this Moment was a shocker. They were very much all about the theatrical side and WOW did they!! Truthfully, i wasn't a fan of them live but have since listened to them on Spotify and i like many of their songs. The singer is female and she's a screamer.
Seether was flipping AWESOME and i would definitely see them again !!  Shinedown never disappoints and they were the headliner for a reason. Great stage performance - lots of fire and lights, etc.  I just really enjoy them and pretty much like every song they do.  It was a great concert and i got my moneys worth!

Oh did i mention i got a tattoo our last day in Amsterdam? I got a raven for my mom. When she turned 50 she got a raven tattoo, i was going to do the same last year when i turned 50 but didn't quite make it.  I am so happy with it!

Our gardenia bush that smells amazing the second you open the back door. I am so happy to have it!

Yesterday, we were under Severe weather and tornado alerts in our area. My supervisor came running out of her office and told all of us to head home now because it was heading our way. Some funnels had already been seen and wasn't sure if they were going to touch down. A few minutes from home, the radio broadcast told exact times that the weather was hitting our area. It was 2:07 on my clock and the storm was going to be over our house at 2:20. The alert said clearly to Take Cover!! I rushed home and let dogs out of kennel and we ran outside in the rain so they could take potty break. I was yelling Hurry Hurry hurry!! Then we ran into house and i scooped them up and got into bathtub.  The dogs were so good and they could tell something was up. They didn't fuss and try to jump out .  Once it passed over- we had thunder and sideways rain, we got out.  Todd is in New York and Jersey this week on business. They too were under tornado watch.

Everything is Ok at our house. Just debris and leaves to pick up but no damage. Unfortunately, the tornado hit down an hour east of us and tore things up pretty bad. They got hit last year too so its so sad.  I saw today that the US has had over 500 tornados in the last 30 days. yikes!!
Stay safe!!

Halloween decorations

Happy Halloween week!!!!  I went to a few garage sales on Saturday and it was later in the day so most were already closed or nothing left. I found a few fun things that i'll post later but I still scored when I came across some fun decorations.  I love it when people go all out to decorate.   Here are a few that I drove past and also some more of my indoor decorations.

Lila is free from the donut

After 3 looong weeks since Lila hurt her leg, she is finally free from the inflatable donut she had to wear around her neck. I was so glad I found the idea off Pinterest and Todd was able to find it at Petco.  The cone freaked her out completely and we had to have an alternative.
Last week, I wanted her to have a break from the donut so I bought some toddler leggings and cut a hole out for her tail and had to cut some of the length off her pant legs. She was so happy to have a break and she didn't fight them at all.  They looked so hillbilly because of the jagged edges from the scissors , and they were too big. As long as she couldn't lick her wound, I didn't care what they looked like.
A few days later I went back to thrift store and bought a smaller pair of leggings to fit her waist better.  While she was in the house she would wear these but as soon as she had to go outside, the donut had to go back on.  We took her back to vet this past Friday night and they took remaining stitches out and she was released from having to wear cone or donut. We were all so relieved.  Poor thing lost weight around her neck from wearing it.  I put collar on last night and it was too big.  I'll fatten her up again! M
She likes to lay her head on the pillow and it was hard to do with bulky donut.

On Saturday , I stopped at garage sale and across the street from there these cute kids were selling lemonade for cancer.  They said one of their friends mom had cancer. I thought that was just so sweet! I donated and bought a big cup because it was 100 degrees outside.

I will show you tomorrow some of my garage sale finds. I always forget to take pictures.
Hope y'all had a nice weekend.  We had friends over that had not seen our house yet and we went swimming. The water was so warm even at 10pm.   I love having a pool!

My awesome treasures

Good morning!!  Last Saturday I was out running some errands with my cousin J because her car has been broken down and is in repair.  She asked me if I would drive her downtown to a place she needed to go.  I didn't have any plans and I knew I could stop at some garage sales on the way to her place.  I stopped at a few garage sales but didn't see anything of interest. Then my last one I stopped at a few blocks away from J's, I scored!! I bought a beautiful glass cake stand and the glass dome lid for 5$! I really only needed the lid and they've been going for 20$ or more.
After we were done with downtown and we were making our way back, we stopped at 3 estate sales. I felt like goldilocks. The first one was asking full retail prices and with no discounts. Usually on Saturdays there is always a discount. The second one didn't have anything left- it was all picked over. The last one I scored again!!  I spotted 4 vintage dolls baby doll size and 3 little vintage dolls that were size of my hand.
The lady gave a great deal plus 25% off of those prices. I want the dolls for my Holliween party. There was a man a few people ahead of me in the checkout line and he saw me buying all the dolls.  She only charged me 1$ each on the little bitty dolls.  He grabbed one and said that it was worth 25$ and that it was made in the  U.S.  The lady seemed upset then that she quoted me a dollar but she stood with the price. After I paid her for everything, I was waiting for J to pay for her things. That man came up to me and offered me 25$ for all my dolls including the life size ones.  I said " no thanks I'm buying them because I need them and have been looking for them".  Dang nosy man!!   I also bought a gorgeous embroidered table cloth. The tag came off when I got home but I kept it. It's in a different language and it looks Greek or Russian maybe. It's really big and meant for a long formal table.  It was too pretty  to pass up. Not sure what I'll do with it.
The legs came off one doll before I made it home. I had no part in that!
The dolls are kinda creepy don't you think?
Oh and I bought this deer head wine bottle holder. I'm obsessed with deer heads lately.

Lastly, I stopped at one more garage sale before I got home. I picked up a stool for 3$ and an old vintage doctors scale (that still works) for 5$!!!!  I was so happy with all the deals I got that day! Nothing very big this time and all of it fit in 2 bags.
It was a fun couple of hours and all that was before noon.
Have you voted on my BOTB? If not, it's the post before this one.
Have a great day!
