Hi there! I'm just a woman that looks at life as an adventure. I'm a Texas girl trying to find joy in every day. I'm obsessed with Halloween , I love to go junking, I like to drink wine, and I'm a Harley girl! Thank you for letting me share my stories, opinions, etc.
Hey yall, so i didn't post last week at all. I had a trillion things to get done in preparation of my estate sale all while being injured. So August 31 ( Labor Day weekend) was my wedding anniversary. I woke up crying and knew it would be a hard day. Two of my good friends came to spend the day with me. Our plans were to go eat lunch, buy a new TV and then tackle my house to get more organized and stuff put out for sale. We managed to eat lunch and went to Walmart and i bought a new TV ( my old one kept humming real loud and i couldn't watch anything). We got back to the house to drop off TV and my friend Debbie was working on my pool pump and changing the timer. I was going to see her do it and as i walking stepping down the 2 concrete steps, my left foot twisted while my right foot was in air stepping down. My legs went right out from underneath and i slammed into my steps. My ankle instantly swelled to size of grapefruit and i busted my tailbone . The only blessing to this was that my other friend that was there used to be head nurse for major hospital in Dallas in the ER for over 20 years and she's now on an elite Trauma team at a different hospital. She knew what to do immediately. My ankle is not broke but my muscle/tendon is strained. My tailbone could be cracked but i opted out of xray because there's nothing they can do it for anyway and so why spend money i don't have. Needless to say i lost all that day including the following day to ice my ankle and sit in recliner. I went to lunch with friend on Monday and i'm using crutches. I am SUPPOSED to stay off my ankle but this happened 5 days before my estate sale. SUCKS so bad!! My tailbone hurts the worst. It hasn't improved in the slightest and i had to buy a special pillow off Amazon to use while i work. I bought a cheap inflatable donut from Walmart and it had a leak in it so its trash.
I just tried attaching picture and i got error that it cant copy over so not sure why. :(
My sale was for last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I sold a lot but i have so much stuff that i still needed to sell much more. On Saturday it was 103 and just too hot for people to want to shop and dig. I totally get it but i may need to do another sale in the early spring. All in all though, i'm happy with what i made. Everything i sold is just that less i have to box up these next few weeks. Since my whole life fiasco started, I've had big projects to focus on. I first needed to clear out my storage with all my inventory and get it to my house. That took a few weeks to get done. Then was to focus on setting up and going thru all tubs to get ready for the sale. Now that sale is over, i have to focus on getting all the shelves and inventory out of 2 guest bedrooms for my roommate to move in end of month. Its a lot to do but i like keeping super busy with end results.
So that's it for now. My house is chaos and i'm slowly putting things back to where they belong and packing up the guest rooms.
I am having an estate sale next weekend - September 5,6,and 7. I've got to downsize and sell as much as i can. I need the money and i need the space. I'm selling my side business with all my vintage and antique goods. I have to get a roommate in October and i have a friend from church that is seriously considering it which will be great.
The sale is whats kept me focused and super busy these last 10 weeks. I had to get all my inventory and stuff out of storage and in my garage and back bedroom. Then I've had to go thru all my holiday tubs to select what i'm keeping and selling. I've got tables set up in my house and stuff all over. It does look like a bomb went off in my house.
I have sooooo much to do but it has been good to keep me busy and distracted. I am anxious to get it over so i can start putting my house back together. I discussed with my potential roommate what my plans were if many of my things sell and luckily i can use a lot of her furniture which makes her happy.
I sure wish all of you were local. I need to sell it all and i have SOOOOO much!
So , this Saturday will be our wedding anniversary and so i am super sad and anxious for the upcoming weekend. Please say a little prayer for me. I've gone thru some tough dark moments and i don't want to spiral down in depression again.
This past weekend, a friend of mine flew in from Chicago to visit me and we rearranged my master bedroom. We moved the bed against another wall and i bought a new comforter set for the bed. Its a cranberry purple pink color and i love it! The changes made me feel good.
When he left, he took the iron and ironing board which was not big deal because he ironed much more than i did. However it is nice to have for the occasion you DO have something to iron. I bought an iron from Walmart but i stopped at salvation army yesterday to do a dropoff of some bags i'm donating and decided to go into the shop. I found a perfect green metal ironing board that was marked 7.99 and had blue tag on it. It happened to be the week of blue tags and things were half off. So yay for me on my 4$ ironing board! Now i just need to buy a cover and pad for it.
I miss all of you and i'm sorry i haven't been visiting your blogs. I do hope and pray for me to see light and to get to place i can breathe and visit with you. Please don't give up on me.
Good morning!! Last Saturday I was out running some errands with my cousin J because her car has been broken down and is in repair. She asked me if I would drive her downtown to a place she needed to go. I didn't have any plans and I knew I could stop at some garage sales on the way to her place. I stopped at a few garage sales but didn't see anything of interest. Then my last one I stopped at a few blocks away from J's, I scored!! I bought a beautiful glass cake stand and the glass dome lid for 5$! I really only needed the lid and they've been going for 20$ or more.
After we were done with downtown and we were making our way back, we stopped at 3 estate sales. I felt like goldilocks. The first one was asking full retail prices and with no discounts. Usually on Saturdays there is always a discount. The second one didn't have anything left- it was all picked over. The last one I scored again!! I spotted 4 vintage dolls baby doll size and 3 little vintage dolls that were size of my hand.
The lady gave a great deal plus 25% off of those prices. I want the dolls for my Holliween party. There was a man a few people ahead of me in the checkout line and he saw me buying all the dolls. She only charged me 1$ each on the little bitty dolls. He grabbed one and said that it was worth 25$ and that it was made in the U.S. The lady seemed upset then that she quoted me a dollar but she stood with the price. After I paid her for everything, I was waiting for J to pay for her things. That man came up to me and offered me 25$ for all my dolls including the life size ones. I said " no thanks I'm buying them because I need them and have been looking for them". Dang nosy man!! I also bought a gorgeous embroidered table cloth. The tag came off when I got home but I kept it. It's in a different language and it looks Greek or Russian maybe. It's really big and meant for a long formal table. It was too pretty to pass up. Not sure what I'll do with it.
The legs came off one doll before I made it home. I had no part in that!
The dolls are kinda creepy don't you think?
Oh and I bought this deer head wine bottle holder. I'm obsessed with deer heads lately.
Lastly, I stopped at one more garage sale before I got home. I picked up a stool for 3$ and an old vintage doctors scale (that still works) for 5$!!!! I was so happy with all the deals I got that day! Nothing very big this time and all of it fit in 2 bags.
It was a fun couple of hours and all that was before noon.
Have you voted on my BOTB? If not, it's the post before this one.
It is really hard to
think of a post on the letter X.The symbol “X” means 10 in Roman numerology. So
I am going to write about 10 things I am really happy about.
I went to an estate
sale this past weekend and really scored some fun stuff at great prices.I stopped by on Friday on my lunch hour and
only spent a few minutes there. On Saturday , they lowered the prices to 50%
off everything.Woohoo!
I got this bag of vintage clothes pins for only
1.00$.I bought a small bag that had 3
in them from an antique store around Christmas and paid close to 5$.So this purchase made me really happy!
2. I bought this beautiful ( to me) handmade full
size quilt that I’m in love with. I love
the bright colors and it has orange in it. For those who don’t know, Orange is
my all time favorite color! I have an
old wood ladder in my hallway that has quilts draped over the rungs.I like being able to grab one and curl up on
the couch with.
3. I bought a wooden wine box that had pretty
spools of various lace all for 5$.
I bought a lovely vintage lamp for only
10$.I have seen these same lamps go for
close to 50$.And the sockets all work
I bought a box of fun vintage buttons , and some
spools of thread and some bias tape ribbon all for 2$. You pay a dollar now just for one or 2 of the
button sets at junk shows and antique stores.
I got to celebrate my 2nd cousin’s 40th
wedding anniversary. Dad and Deb were there and we had a fun evening.
I got a 30% off coupon at Kohl’s which really
makes me happy. I rarely get those. They had a sale on house slippers where you
buy one pair – get the 2nd pair for one penny. My dogs ate my new pair I got for Christmas
so I grabbed some for me and mom.I
bought Mom a few other fun things and wrapped her package last night. I just
need to go to post office and mail it to arrive by Mother’s Day.
I started my rule again where if I buy a new
shirt- I donate a shirt out of my closet.I have a coworker that has 2 boys and her husband cant work. She is on
very tight budget and never buys for herself. She loves getting my shirts and I
picked out 3 for her that I think she will like. One of
them is a new one but I took the tags off and she doesn’t know. She
would get mad if she knew I bought it FOR HER so its what I do.I love it!!
While going through some clothes last night, I also
have 2 bags of clothes to donate to a charity I support: Genesis Womens Shelter
.It supports abused women who flee from
their homes with nothing, and they also help provide resources for employment,
and other support to them.
This Friday will be May 1.My birthday is in May and several other friends
and family celebrate in May.I am
getting older and that is a blessing! Every day to wake up and be alive is a
true gift.I celebrate my birthday all
month.
So my numbers got totally messed up. haha!! I cant seem to fix it either. Don't try this at home kids.
We need to make a point to think of at least one thing a day that makes us happy. It's very easy to list the irritations.
